Monday’s football tips: Back most goals to come after the break as Macclesfield bid to sting Bees

The FA Cup fourth-round action comes to a climax tonight and Macclesfield will be looking to claim another Premier League scalp when they host Brentford.

The National League North side memorably dumped holders Crystal Palace out in the last round with a 2-1 triumph on home soil.

They will be hoping lightning strikes twice but taking down Brentford looks like a tall order, with the Bees in excellent Premier League form.

Macclesfield vs Brentford top betting tips

Brentford have previous for bringing minnows back down to earth after a cup shock, having thrashed Grimsby 5-0 in the wake of the Mariners' epic League Cup win over Manchester United.

So it's easy to see why Keith Andrews' side are just 1/4 with Coral for a win, although a lot will depend on how strong a side Brentford field.

Palace struggled to create chances at Leasing.com Stadium and it was a similar story for West Ham and Wolves away to lower-league opposition at the weekend.

So a Bees win with under 3.5 goals could be the shout at 13/10 with Betway while backing most goals to come after the break pays a tempting 21/20 at 888Sport.

Dango Ouatarra has been in fantastic form for Brentford and looks worth a punt at 7/5 with BetMGM to score if he starts.

Coventry City vs Middlesbrough

There's a massive clash in the EFL Championship tonight as Coventry look to jump back above Middlesbrough at the top with a win.

Frank Lampard's side looked to be running away with the title a couple of months ago but they've won just two of their last nine games in all competitions.

That has opened the door for Boro and they've kicked it down by winning their last six Championship matches to hit the summit.

Now comes the acid test for boss Kim Hellberg, who has worked wonders since taking the reins from Rob Edwards.

Middlesbrough lost 4-2 when these sides faced off at the Riverside in November but I'd be surprised if this game is so open with so much at stake.

Tension could have an effect on both sides so I'm going to bet on under 2.5 goals at 6/5 with Betfred.

We might see a few cards too and veteran Boro defender Luke Ayling is 16/5 at Ladbrokes to go in the book. He has picked up six yellows already this term.

Girona vs Barcelona

It will be fascinating to see how Barcelona respond to their midweek thrashing by Atletico Madrid when they return to La Liga action against Girona tonight.

Barca went into the Copa Del Rey semi-final in great form, winning 17 of their last 18 games, but found themselves 4-0 down by half-time.

They avoided any further punishment but the heat is now on in the Spanish title race after Real Madrid went back to the summit on Saturday.

Barca need a win to jump back above their rivals and should be too strong for a Girona side sitting in the bottom half of the table.

Hansi Flick's side have kept just two clean sheets in their last eight matches so a Barcelona win with BTTS could be the shout at 13/10 with Ladbrokes.

Lamine Yamal has netted five times in his last six outings and the Barca wonderkid is 29/20 at William Hill for another goal tonight.
