Bet 22 – Ipswich Town vs Liverpool – Friday 4th September at 8pm
Ipswich Town welcome Liverpool to Portman Road after an eventful start to the Premier League season. The hosts beat Sunderland 2-1 before scoring twice in a 5-2 defeat at Manchester United, while Liverpool drew 2-2 with both Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest.
Julio Enciso’s longer-term record makes this selection stand out. He has drawn at least one foul in 18 of the 19 matches across this season, his World Cup campaign and his last spelling in the Premier League which was also with Ipswich.
During his previous Premier League loan with Ipswich, Enciso was fouled in all 12 appearances. He drew 20 fouls across 799 minutes, an average of 2.25 per 90. That run included four fouls against Everton and Brentford, plus two against Southampton and Chelsea.
Enciso also faced Liverpool at Anfield during that spell. He only played the final 12 minutes and still drew one foul.
The pattern continued at the World Cup, where Enciso was fouled nine times across five starts and recorded at least one in four matches. Since returning to Ipswich, he has drawn two fouls against Sunderland and another two at Manchester United.
Across the three samples, Enciso has been fouled 33 times in 1,346 minutes, averaging 2.21 per 90. Liverpool have committed 28 fouls across their opening two league games, adding further support for Enciso to draw at least one.
