While this column is dedicated to high-probability tips, there is no guarantee of profit. If playing along, you should consider your own budget and confidence in the tip provided, and make your own decision whether to follow, cash out or continue at every stage. 18+, please gamble responsibly.

We will use a unit system for our stakes, allowing readers to set their own unit value that suits their own budget. For the sake of simplicity, for us, 1 unit = £1.

We will continue to transparently track our progress as far as we go on the path to 1,000, but will refresh our main tracking stake back to the starting point every time we surpass 100 units – a 10x ROI.

For the sake of consistency, all tips are placed using odds from bet365. It worth pointing out that with Bet365 we can paid out if our selection goes into a lead by two or more goals.

Bet 6 – Spain vs Argentina – Sunday 19th July at 8pm

My bet is Argentina over 0.5 cards and over 1.5 match cards.

This angle is built around the most consistent disciplinary trend from Argentina's tournament rather than relying on both teams to be carded. Total match cards have gone over 1.5 in six of Argentina's seven World Cup games, with the only exception coming in their opening 3-0 win over Algeria when neither side received a booking.

Across those seven fixtures, Argentina's matches have averaged exactly three cards.

Argentina have collected at least one card in four of their seven matches. The three games where they avoided a booking all came against opponents they controlled comfortably in Algeria, Jordan and Egypt. They were booked against Austria, Cape Verde, Switzerland and England, the four most competitive matches they have played.

A World Cup final against Spain is far more likely to resemble those high-intensity contests than the routine victories earlier in the tournament.

Referee Slavko Vincic also supports the bet. He has averaged 2.67 cards per game across his three World Cup appointments, making over 1.5 match cards and Argentina over 0.5 cards a strong combination.

  • Bet: Over 1.5 match cards & Argentina over 0.5 cards
  • Odds: 2/9
  • 34.20 units returns 41.80
