If that team wins, they progress into the next round, if they draw or lose, they are eliminated.

Each team can only be picked once throughout the game; eg, if you pick Liverpool to win in week one, you cannot pick them again during that edition of Last Player Standing.

The goal is to be the final player left at the end of it all. The winner takes the full pot.

This weekend, Manchester City will look to pile on the pressure on leaders Arsenal at home to Newcastle United on Saturday night, whilst the Gunners have the small matter of a North London derby on Super Sunday.

This week’s best Last Player Standing tip: Manchester City

Manchester City recorded their third win from their previous four Premier League matches last time out, as they secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Fulham.

Pep Guardiola’s men are now unbeaten in each of their previous 12 Premier League outings at the Etihad (W10-D2-L0), scoring 2+ goals in all 10 of those victories.

It’s been a good week and a half for Newcastle, as they travel to the Etihad off the back of three consecutive wins in all competitions, defeating crisis-club Spurs in the Premier League, 10-man Aston Villa in the FA Cup before thrashing Qarabag in the Champions League.

However, Eddie Howe’s men have won just three times on their Premier League travels this season, losing six of their past 10 (W3-D1-L6), and have an absolutely abysmal record at the Etihad.

The Magpies have lost on each of their last 12 and on 18 of their previous 19 trips to the blue side of Manchester, shipping 2+ goals in 17 (94%) of those defeats.

MFT’s top Last Player Standing pick: Chelsea

After using Manchester City last weekend in their win over Salford City in the FA Cup, this weekend we’ll back Chelsea to secure all three points at home to relegation-threatened Burnley.

The Blues come into this clash having won seven and lost just one of their previous nine matches in all competitions (W7-D1-L1), and should be too strong for their struggling visitors.

Burnley kept their slim hopes of survival alive by winning 2-3 at out-of-sorts Crystal Palace last time out, but prior to that, the Clarets were winless in each of their previous 16 Premier League outings (W0-D5-L11).
