Supreme George jumped brilliantly from the front at Catterick, and showcased why it's difficult to peg back front-runners around that venue.
He was weak in the market most of the morning, but attracted some support before the off, eventually winning at the advised price of 7/2. However, there was a 20p rule 4 attached to his price if you backed him before the non-runner.
Redbridge Rambler didn't jump great over at least half of his obstacles. He didn't jump them badly, but spent too much time in the air or got in close, resulting in him losing ground.
He looked to be in with a chance turning for home, but a few more mistakes saw him struggle.
Moroder 20/1 (0.5pt EW, 3pl) – Doncaster 1.35
It's going to be tough to beat Fierce Warrior, who has a serious level of form coming into today's race. The form from his last two runs has been franked multiple times, but his price of 11/10 is definitely very skinny.
Moroder was tipped up at Doncaster earlier in the year and landed us a winner at a huge price. He is 2/2 at this venue, and with the ground drying at the right time, he looks a nice price at 20/1.
He has been out of form this season, but I did think he shaped with promise despite being pulled up. That run was on soft ground, which is ideal for him.
His handicap mark has dropped to 4lbs below when he won at this track in March, and that gives him a fighting chance.
Rockola Vogue 13/8 (2pt) – Doncaster 2.45
This is a step up in grade and quality for Rockola Vogue, but she looked like an improving mare last time out at Ascot.
She was strong in the market for her Class 3 0-130 mares handicap, and the way she stayed on was noticeable. The runner-up has won since, and the third has been placed in the same race which the runner-up won at Kempton a couple of days ago.
She managed to win that race whilst carrying 11st 10lbs. She has gone up 6lbs for that win, but it's 3lbs as Nick Slatter is claiming 3lbs for today's race.
Racing against the boys makes this difficult, but I think the galloping track and long straight play to her strengths.
