At the time of writing, Tote haven't put up their 27th December Placepot. This will be done later on.
Jubilee Express was jumping well up until the eventual winner made a move and took the lead. His rhythm went to pot after that, and after many mistakes in a row, his race was over.
Lump Sum looked in trouble a long way from home. Whether the track didn't suit him, or the fast pace, I'm not sure. Either way, that wasn't a true representative of his ability, and he can come again.
Indemnity is a horse I'll be jumping off now. After watching him win at Market Rasen months ago in taking fashion, and running well in good handicaps since, he just isn't a horse you can be confident after that performance.
Supreme George 7/2 (1pt) – Catterick 1.28
It's strange that Supreme George was sent off at 20/1 for his win at Ludlow. He didn't get a fair crack on his chasing debut at Bangor the time before, being hampered by a faller. It was a long way to go for Donald McCain's horse, so being unbacked in the market seemed odd.
However, he managed to win despite going off at big odds, and he looked like a different horse, benefiting from front-running tactics.
This small field might play to his strengths if they try to go from the front again. Catterick is a track notorious for being a front-runner-biased track, so if he can get an uncontested lead and get into a good jumping rhythm, he could take a lot of stopping.
Carrying twelve stone won't be easy, but this is a step down in class, after winning in a Class 4 (0-110) last time out. He has gone up 7lbs in the handicap, but he is still very unexposed as a chaser.
Redbridge Rambler 3/1 (1pt) – Catterick 2.38
With Freddie Keighley taking off 7lbs, it puts Redbridge Rambler on a decent handicap mark.
The Martin Keighley runner is not one to have full trust in, as he is very inconsistent. But, on good ground and in a Class 5 off his current handicap mark he can be very dangerous, if on a going day.
Catterick isn't close for the yard, but Martin has boasted over a 20% SR at the track since being a trainer many moons ago.
Redbridge Rambler has finished second and third in his last two starts, both coming in Class 4 races. He wasn't fantastic on both occasions, but against lesser opposition in today's race, that should give him a fighting chance.
