IT was good to end the year with a winning Super Single. Thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo who scored his eighth league goal of the season to help Manchester United up to sixth in the table.
As mentioned yesterday the book is close to be being closed by some firms at the top of the table after Manchester City opened up an eight point lead but the relegation market is a lively one with four teams odds on to go down.
Norwich look dead and buried a 1/11, even though they're currently just three points from safety. Next are Watford at 4/5 and Burnley at 10/11. But the biggest story could be super-rich Newcastle who are still as short as 4/6 with Paddy Power to be playing in the Championship next season.
Beyond that, Leeds Utd (3/1), Brentford (9/1), Southampton (14/1) and Everton (20/1) are the ousiders at the bookies. The Bees look like they could be vulnerable a 9s with a small squad and there's no arguement that they've over-performed so far this season.
On to today though and there's not much football around Europe. The La Liga clash between Valencia and Espanyol, which is live on Premier Sports at 3.15pm is about all there is to offer and Tolu has that one covered for us where he's tipped the in-form home side to ring out the old year with a win.
Our team is already on the case for the weekend's matches which are spread over Saturday and Sunday. Man City could be the big benficiaries on Sunday when Chelsea host Liverpool but first they'll need to take care of their own trip to in-form Arsenal at lunch-time on New Year's Day.
