Following on from Thursday’s winner at Celtic Park, Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me head to the MLS, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.

⚽️ Nashville SC vs Chicago Fire

🇺🇸 MLS

⏰ Sunday 21 September, 02:30

Eastern Conference leaders Nashville welcome fifth-placed Chicago Fire to Geodis Park on Saturday night in what should be an entertaining clash.

B. J. Callaghan’s hosts have scored 50 goals across their opening 25 encounters in the MLS this campaign, with an impressive 36 (72%) of them coming in front of their supporters.

The Boys in Gold have made the net bulge in all 12 (100%) of their MLS clashes on home soil – scoring 2+ goals in 10 (83%) of them – and will be confident of adding to their impressive goal tally at home against a Fire backline that has failed to record a clean sheet in each of their previous 11 MLS encounters.

Gregg Berhalter’s visitors Have scored 45 goals across their opening 24 MLS fixtures this term, with 23 (51%) of them coming on their travels.

The Fire have blanked just once in the MLS this season – scoring on multiple occasions in 14 (58%) of them – and will look to trouble a Nashville backline that has kept just four clean sheets at home this season.

Bet of the Day

Given the attacking quality on show for both sides, it’s hard to envisage a low-scoring encounter in Music City on Saturday night.

Nashville’s opening 12 MLS fixtures on home soil this campaign have produced a whopping 48 goals, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in 10 (83%) of them, whilst eight (67%) of those have also seen goals at both ends.

The Fire’s opening 24 MLS encounters this campaign have averaged 3.33 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals banking in 18 (75%) of them – including in 14 of their last 17 – whilst 14 of their past 15 and 17 of their previous 21 have produced goals at both ends.
