Saturday’s Football Bet of the Day sees me focus on the World Cup, and I’ve highlighted a goals-based selection in one of the fixtures.
⚽️ Netherlands vs Sweden
🏆 World Cup
⏰ Saturday 20 June, 18:00
Entertainment should be on the cards in Houston on Saturday night as the Netherlands take on Sweden in a crucial clash in Group F.
The Netherlands suffered a late setback in their opening match in Group F Last Sunday, as Japan equalised in the 89th minute through Crystal Palace’s Daichi Kamada.
Premier League duo Virgil van Dijk and Crysencio Summerville twice gave Ronald Koeman’s side the lead in the second half, but they were forced to share the spoils with Japan in what was an entertaining second half.
Sweden, on the other hand, did make a winning start in Group F, as they thrashed a poor Tunisia side 5-1 in Monterrey in the early hours of Monday morning.
Graham Potter’s side raced into a two-goal lead before being pegged back just before half-time, but three second-half goals without reply meant the Swedes made the perfect start to the tournament.

Bet of the Day
Sweden’s previous seven matches have now averaged a whopping 4.26 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals landing in six (86%) of them.
What’s more, eight of the Dutch’s last 12 have gone Over 2.5 Goals, and I’m expecting that trend to continue in Houston on Saturday night in what should be an open encounter.
- Over 2.5 Goals
- Pays 4/5 (bet365)
