France and Denmark look a long way ahead of the other two here with France as short as 2/5 to win Group D.

The pair look to dominate the group and the straight forecast of France first and Denmark has a huge chance of coming up.

Australia look to have their weakest squad for many years. The fact they are so reliant on a Scottish Premiership select tells its own story sadly. Assuming they lose to both France and Denmark, you are effectively getting 89/20 on Tunisia beating them, so the call is for the Socceroos to get no points.

France

FRANCE are many people's idea of World Cup winners-in-waiting for the second time in a row and Les Blues are strong favourites to win Group D.

Didier Deschamps' side will meet Denmark, Tunisia and Australia in the tournament and the group kicks off on Tuesday with France entertaining Australia after the Danes play the Tunisians.

Let's start with the current World Champions, FRANCE. Winners in 1998 and the last tournament in Russia, as well as being runners-up in 2006, the course and distance specialists are absolutely brimming with talent.

A strikeforce of Karim Benzema and Kylian Mbappe is just about as Dream Team as you can get and even the so-called reserve pool of strikers includes the likes of Kingsley Coman and Ousmane Dembele.

However, when you start looking at their defence and midfield, alarm bells do ring slightly and while they have surely the best attack force on the planet, the same cannot be said for the other areas of the team.

They are prone to putting in the odd stinker too – they lost home and away to Denmark in the Nations League and drew with Bosnia and Ukraine twice in their qualifying group.

Denmark

DENMARK were hugely impressive in their qualifying saunter to the Finals and only Scotland prevented them from the clean sweep after a 2-0 defeat at Hampden.

They are many people's dark horses for the tournament and they served notice of just how good they could be when they reached the Euro 2020 semi-finals and led hosts England only to be denied in extra time to a controversial English penalty rebound winner.

Manager Kasper Hjulmand has ignored the especially loud noise in his homeland about boycotting the tournament and has an array of talent to choose from.

They don't boast any real superstars and will rely on the experienced trio of Kasper Schmeichel, Simon Kjaer and Christian Eriksen.

Tunisia

TUNISIA will be aiming to reach the group stages for the first time in six attempts and they have survived a late threat to their appearance here after FIFA threatened to boot them out due to government interference.

They beat Mali in a play-off to qualify and shrugged off a potentially damaging loss in Equatorial Guinea to reach that stage.

They impressively beat Chile and hosts Japan to win the Kirin Cup in the summer, although they were crushed by Brazil in September 5-1 in a friendly in Paris.

Star man is Montpellier forward Wahbi Khazri, who was their top scorer in qualification.

Australia

AUSTRALIA could hardly have struggled more to reach Qatar and they eventually made it by beating the UAE and Peru in a penalty shoot-out in the play-offs.

Socceroos boss Graham Arnold has opted to include six Scottish-based players as well as Scotland international cap Jason Cummings.

They are nowhere near the force they once were and their Golden Generation of talent have long since retired.
