Wednesday’s Football Tips: Pep to Pip Ole to the Final

SPURS booked their place in the final of the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 win over Championship side on Wednesday leaving Jose Mourinho just one win away from his first trophy as Spurs manager.

He'll find out his cup final opponents tonight when Manchester United and Manchester City clash at Old Trafford.

A cup final appearance would underline a tremendous run of form for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side who find themselves vying with Liverpool for top spot in the Premier League having been under sinificant pressure from some quarters earlier in the season.

Holders City haven't lost in this competition in since United beat them back in 2016 with a single Juan Mata goal, in fact that's their only defeat in five years in the League Cup and they're targeting winning the trophy for a sixth time in eight seasons.

Wednesday's Tips

The bookies have City as firm favourites with Marathonbet going a best-priced 21/20 for Pep Guardiola's side to win inside the 90 minutes. The same firm also go 14/5 on United getting the job down without the need for extra-time or penalties.

To qualify it's 3/5 City and 6/4 United. With the blue half of Manchester running in to a bit of form I'd be tempted to back them to shade it, assuming – and there's no reason to doubt – that Guardiola gives the competition the respect he usually does at this stage of the competition.

There are full cards in Serie A and Ligue to look forward to on Wednesday too.

In the former, match of the day is at the San Siro where top of the table Milan welcome defending champions Juventus. Andreas Pirlo's side can ill-afford to fall any further than the 10 points they find themselves behind Milan. Bookies still make them favourites to win though at 7/5 while the hosts look very tempting at 15/8 with Bet365.

If you're having a bet on Serie A games note that he action begins at 11.30 and most matches kick-off at 2.00pm.

In France, Mauricio Pochettino takes charge of PSG for the first time. The champions are just 4/11 to get his tenure off to a winning start at St Etienne. League leaders Lyon look a solid but at 2/5 at home to Lens as do Lille at 4/7 against Angers.
