Lee Carsley got off to an impressive start as England interim boss on Saturday in Dublin and will be looking to build on that display when Finland come calling in the UEFA Europa League.
Taking on the Republic of Ireland away from home was a tricky opener given England's poor record on Irish soil but the game was won inside half an hour thanks to goals from Declan Rice and Jack Grealish.
Carsley is perhaps fortunate that England got relegated in their last Nations League campaign, as it has given him a series of kind fixtures to press his claim for the permanent job.
Finland come to Wembley off the back of a 3-0 battering in Greece so it's hard to see them causing a shock if England hit the same levels they did at the weekend.

England vs Finland top betting tips
One of the big differences from Gareth Southgate's reign was how often England's wingers got in behind the defence, Anthony Gordon in particular.
The Newcastle star and fellow wide boy both tested Irish keeper Caoimhin Kelleher, helping to bring up one of Saturday's Super Singles. That makes them worth a punt for a goal tonight, with Gordon 13/8 at Betfred and Saka a bit shorter at 8/5.
With the Finns so poor at the weekend, there could also be a bit of value in backing England to win both halves at 21/20.
Finland's midfield will have a tough night keeping England quiet and I like the 15/4 at Bet365 for former Rangers and Leeds star Glen Kamara to go into the book.
Netherlands vs Germany top tips
The best game to watch in the UEFA Nations League tonight should be Germany's trip to Amsterdam to take on the Netherlands.
Both teams scored five times in their opening fixture and this rivalry is always spicy so the stage is set for a cracker.
Combining BTTS and over 2.5 goals takes you to 17/20 in a Betfred bet builder while over 1.5 goals is longer odds at 6/5 with Bet365.
Going for cards is probably the wisest option as sparks usually fly when these rivals collide. Robert Andrich takes no prisoners in midfield for the Germans and he's 3/1 to go in the book at Bet365.
Dutch full-back Denzel Dumfries should be up against the lively Florian Wirtz and looks decent value too at 7/2 for a card.
Republic of Ireland vs Greece top betting tips
That 2-0 loss to England in Dublin wasn't a great start for new Irish boss Heimir Hallgrimsson and he needs a better performance when Greece come calling in the UEFA Nations League.
Hallgrimsson can take a bit of heart from an improved second-half display but Greece will test his defence again after smashing three goals past the Finns at the weekend.
The Greeks also beat the Republic of Ireland twice in Euro 2024, easing to a 2-0 victory on their last trip to Dublin, so they could offer a bit of value at 6/4 for another win.
Those two meetings in Euro qualifying both hit double figures for corners, with 11 in Dublin and 15 in Athens, so over 10 flag kicks looks good at 5/4 with Bet365.
Tuesday's Football Tips: Super singles
- England to win both halves 21/20 Betfred
- Robert Andrich to be carded 3/1 Bet365
- Over 10 corners in Republic of Ireland v Greece 5/4 Bet365

Racing tips
After a couple of winners on Monday, Cairnzy and Rizzel hope there's a Tiger in their tank with a 16/1 each-way punt at Newcastle.

Hi guys, question for you…
Is there a limit to how much you can bet on a single bet?
I was doing a bet challenge recently where I was trying to double my money each time starting with £5 and got up to around £320 then when I tried to place the next bet I was told it had to be authorised. It got the green light but lost anyway.
Had it won, would all my following bets after it had to have been authorised also? Or was it just flagged up because I had won consecutively over a period of 2 or 3 days and they didn’t like that?
Cheers
I’ve had that plenty of times in the past, trust me if they get information that it probably will win then they would have restricted it,they ain’t daft 🤔, weasels mate but every dog has his day, bide your timel👍
Maximum stakes are decided by Traders. If you start winning too much, you’ll get stake-limited (or restricted from betting on certain markets – like less mainstream games). That’s why your bet was referred to a Trader before it was accepted.
Traders can accept larger bets, but will usually want to carry out additional financial checks on you first (affordability, risk profile, anti-money laundering etc)
For larger stakes, you are probably better off placing with a betting exchange (e.g. Smarkets) – where your bet will be taken on by other individual bettors, rather than a bookie.
HTH 😉
Interesting! Thanks Chris
Surely they would be able to see that I only added £5 to my account prior and am simply using the winnings as my stake and not adding money to my account each time.
Bookies are all about exposure risk & profitability. They only want customers who make them a profit.
By winning a succession of “doubling up” bets, you are either very lucky or very skilled. If you are the former, they want to keep you. But if you are skilled, they will stake-restrict you in a heartbeat (e.g. Betfair has stake-restricted me to £0.23 per bet MAXIMUM, Betway – £0.10)
You took £5 of your money, and by doubling up could have taken £315 of theirs. A couple more winning bets in a row, and you could have taken £1K plus of THEIR money. Would you run a business where you get £5 in and pay £1K out?
Advice: if you start consistently winning, split your stake and spread around using several different bookies. Some firms are more lenient than others (Bet365 are usually quite good, smaller firms are often a nightmare)
Absolute see you next Tuesdays. The amount of £ they’ve had off me over the years!
Thanks for your replies 👍🏻
I sometimes do similar. I don’t have access to bookies online so go into store (betfred) and place bets around evens. As soon as I get to above £100 it will come up with awaiting authorisation. Then it limits my bet to £100
Noob – I love the challenge of seeing how far £5 can go. Best I’ve done is £1500 ish couple years ago. My aim was £5000. I said I’ll either come away with the lot or nothing at all. Cash outs not allowed!
Same here wibble. I normally start with £10 myself and stop at £1000. Do find my bets slow down as the winnings get higher. Start off with a bet almost daily then get more selective.by the 5th bet and normally bank a little along the way. Much more fun than simply placing an acca
