It was a good day for the thread. Rizz and I each landed a winning selection, ensuring we ended the day in profit.

Chalk Mountain ran out a convincing winner at Wolverhampton, bringing his record at the track to three wins from three visits. His win was very similar to his previous win on the AW as he cruised on the bridle before pouncing in the final furlong to win with the minimum of fuss.

Rizz managed to land a lovely 6/1 winner in the shape of Innisfree Pearl, who drifted out to 15/2 before the off. Rizz was pretty much spot on with his pre-race analysis as his selection thrived in the testing conditions. The horse was very game and stuck to the task nicely, relishing the stiffer track and slightly longer trip.

Rizzel's other selection Window Of Time was heavily punted in the market, being supported from 14/1 to around 7/2 but went out like a light when putting her challenge in round the outside before turning for home.

Cairnzy's Tips

Eight Mile 11/4 – Lingfield 2.30

For my first selection on Tuesday, I've gone for Eight Mile, for trainer George Scott and jockey Callum Shepherd. George Scott has his string in good nick this month and is currently operating around a 20% strike rate with his runners. Furthermore, the booking of Callum Shepherd is another positive in my opinion, I'm a massive fan of Callum Shepherd and I think he is massively underrated in the jockey world and if he continues to ride as he is then I don't think it will be long until he lands a nice spot in one of the bigger stables.

My selection has a consistent profile when it comes to the artificial surface and has won and placed at this course in the past. She has been campaigned over a variety of trips ranging from 5f and up to most recently 1m. He has run with credit since being upped to 1m but with that said, I don't feel that is his optimum trip, and after watching a few replays of his performances over 1m I don't feel he has seen out the trip as well as connections may have hoped. As much as I felt Eight Mile didn't see how the trip, he still ran with credit to finish 4L of the winner and the form of that particular contest reads quite well with the second and fourth placed horses winning on their following outings.

Connections have opted to drop Eight Mile back to 7f for this contest, which I think is the correct move given he didn't seem to see the 1m out to great effect. He's shown some nice dash over these shorter distances in the past and being drawn in stall one looks to be another positive, especially if Callum can pop him out prominently against the rail which is what I expect him to do.

Lattash 3/1 – Newcastle 7.00

This is a decent looking Class 5 event, and I'm looking forward to seeing a couple of these lightly raced sorts back on the track again. The market seemingly has this down as a three horse race but I wouldn't discount a few at slightly bigger odds, in particular Buon Viaggio who has drifted from 5s to 7s but showed glimpses of promise on debut when chasing home a couple of decent sorts at Chelmsford last month.

The horse that has been backed since time of writing is the David O'Meara-trained Barefoot Warrior who is now the current 7/4 favourite after opening up around 5/2. Barefoot Warrior arrives on the back of a promising victory at Thirsk last time out but does have to shoulder a penalty for that win and the draw in stall 12 was enough to put me off. Stanage from the Gosden yard has also been backed from time of writing from around 4s into 5/2 second favourite but I wasn't fused on that one either.

The horse that I liked was Lattash for trainer Karl Burke, my selection was well backed on debut when turning over the odds on favourite Leadman from the inform Andrew Balding yard. The form of that debut run looks okay on paper but nothing more than that. Leadman is a nicely bred horse for the Balding team but has been a turned-over favourite four times now and has yet to register a win despite being rated in the low 80s. Melanie's Joy who finished third that day went one spot better when finishing runner-up to James Fanshawe's Milliterries.

Lattash's debut came over 7f and he takes a step up in trip for this contest to 1m which looks sure to suit given he stayed on strongly on debut to win by 1L in the end. He looked like he had a fair bit left in the tank that day, and he's open to further progress after only one career start.

Rizzel's Tips

Starlit Spice 10/1 EW – Leicester 3.10

After yesterday's newcomer in a hurdles race it might not be the right decision going for another newcomer, but I couldn't help myself when I saw Jamie Spencer riding the Ollie Sangster's 2-year-old debutante, Starlit Spice.

Ollie Sangster has been mustard this year with his juveniles and has done very well with his newcomers, especially with Jamie Spencer on board. Jamie Spencer is riding very sparingly these days with him picking and choosing what horses and days to ride, so it's a good indicator that connections of Starlit Spice are more than happy with what he has been showing at home as it has got Spencer out of bed and coming to Leicester for the one ride.

I'm not daft and I know the odds-on favourite will be tough to beat if he can reproduce the form he showed from his first run, but at the odds of Starlit Spice I think we can take an EW chance. Ollie Sangster has had 13 2-year-old winners from 62 runners which is a 21% SR with a further 15 being placed. Spencer is 3/8 with juvenile from the Sangster yard, with two ore being placed in second place, equalling a profit of +17.50 to £1 level stakes.

The pedigree of Starlit Spice is an encouraging one for today's conditions. He is by Sea The Stars and is out of a Class 1 placed mare who has produced a couple of decent handicappers. Today's trip will be on the short side, but for the time being it looks a nice start for him, but middle distances will see him in a better light. The ground shouldn't be an issue as the Dam was solid enough on good to soft/yielding ground.

Interesting, he is the only runner of the day for both trainer and jockey.

Tiger Trap 16/1 EW four places – Newcastle 8.00

It wouldn't surprise me if Tiger Trap tripled in odds, but it also wouldn't surprise me if he was backed into favourite or close to that as this is a track that Tom Tate does well at and this horse is at the bottom of the weights.

The level of form from Tiger Trap is hardly convincing and it will take a leap of faith if backing this horse as there's not much to be positive about, but I get the feeling the trainer might be up to something. Tom Tate is 2/7 at Newcastle this year, and considering it's been a relatively poor year for the yard, the fact he's had winners at this track at a decent strike rate is a positive.

Tiger Trap has raced at Newcastle on a couple of occasions and has ran okay on both occasions, with his best RPR to date coming at this track on his second starts a couple of years ago. This season he has been sparingly raced, both being on turf, and though the numbers next to his form would suggest it doesn't amount to much, they were decent efforts, but I think he might be better on the all-weather. Both of his races this year have been in Class 5 races, so today is a drop in class and combining that with a dropping handicap mark, which now sees him rated 47, it might be the right time to catch him.

Hollie Doyle gets the ride, and gets her first ride for this yard. That is a slightly concern that the likes of Joe Fanning isn't on board who is 1/3 with the yard this year, but Hollie Doyle is one of the best low weight riding jockeys in the country and is a positive booking in my opinion.

Well in lads. Headline tip in as well which is always nice. Punters love to see other punters winning so hopefully a few were on. For me that 14/1 tip would be classed as winner as well. You have a horse backed from 14s into 7/2 smart punters are laying some of that off just before they ran, either turning it into a free bet or I’d personally have guaranteed at least my stake was doubled no matter how it ran.

Just trying to fill the page a bit so just sharing a little stat for tomorrow.

Richard Hughes 2 year old AW runners recent finishing positions. Last 10 runners. Most recent on left.

    1, 2, 3, 1, 1, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2

    Mathuru 3.05 Lingfield tomorrow

Haven’t looked into the race myself but I heard a few positive words about this one over the weekend. Confidence apparently really boosted after last run.Showed greeness in previous run so has learnt a lot. Blinkers have really helped. Meant to be the one tomorrow. I’d be all over it at those early prices that will be up about 4 pm today.

Little extra stat I picked up for James Owens runner today….60% strike rate at Lingfield when James Owen and Sean D Bowen combine. Also Yard have a £38 level stakes profit when only sending 1 runner to a meeting. Has been backed from that opening price of 4/1.

All the best everyone ill try bore you all again over the weekend if i can to try pick things up on here for you all.

Hope your well Wilf. Very briefly as I’m away up to the Lakes this morning fir a few days so leaving in about 20 minutes….I think the time to get on it was yesterday at 4s. I just checked oddschecker and she was 11/4 with hills so that might be still there. I personally wouldn’t take 2s. Should be running really well, loves the track, she gives her best every run. Was nice to see the yard have a winner yesterday with B Associates at Wolverhampton. Horses are all running really well. As I said the other day James Owen is an expert at improving these lowly rated stable switchers.

Worth a mention for yards record at Wolverhampton which I’ve likely said on here before. It’s something like 40% strike rate there after their winner yesterday. I should have reminded people the other day.

All the best Wilf. Back at weekend if I spot anything worth sharing
