Wins for Arsenal and Manchester City kept the pressure on Liverpool ahead of their home match against bottom side Sheffield United tonight.
The Red are 27 games unbeaten at Anfield and the place was electric on Saturday as Jurgen Klopp’s men came from behind to beat Brighton 2-1.
Sheffield United are heading towards an unwanted record, their 77 goals conceded is just 12 short of Derby County’s tally and there’s still nine games to navigate.
It looks like a question of how many Liverpool will win by this evening. They’re just 1/12 to win and they’d need to win by four or more to land just over even money (2.010) on the Asian Handicap which is set at -3.0. Ridiculous.
The last two nights we’ve cashed in on two or more first goals in a couple of games but even that only pays 8/13.
Liverpool have only kept five clean sheets in 15 at home in the league but Sheffield United have the worst record for scoring in away games, failing to find the net in 43% of matches on the road. 5/6 on Liverpool to win to nil might not be everyone’s favourite bet but considering they’re 1/12 to win it could be a bit of value.
It’s been one step forward two steps back for Chelsea all-season. More than once they’ve threatened to show what their expensively assembled squad is capable of but all too often they’ve failed to put any meaningful run of results together.
Saturday’s 2-2 home draw with Burnley was another case in point. It’s the kind of result that’s hampered their season, leaving them in the bottom half with just 40 points from a possible 84.
On the plus side they’ve only lost one of their last 15 at Stamford Bridge but they’ve an awful recent record against tonight’s opponents, Manchester United. The Blues are winless in 12 Premier League games against the Red Devils.
United are all but out of the race for the top four and boss Erik ten Hag has pointed to the fatigue being suffered by players who are being overloaded with matches as a reasoning for inconsistent results. Injuries prevent the Dutchmen being too picky with his selections but he’ll be to have Mason Mount back in the fold.
The former Chelsea midfielder scored on Saturday and is a 5/1 shot to net against his old club.
Chelsea are 10/11 to win tonight but the value could lie with the visitors at 13/5. Playing a bit safer there’s 5/6 available on United in the Double Chance market.
