Sunday’s Football Tips: Depleted Arsenal still favourites for derby trip to Tottenham

The next few games will go a long way to shaping Arsenal's season, with today's derby against Spurs followed by their Champion League opener away to Atalanta then a showdown with title rivals Manchester City at the Etihad.

Mikel Arteta would have wanted a fit and firing squad for those massive tests but skipper Martin Odegaard will miss all three and £100million man Declan Rice is suspended for the clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

New signing Mikel Merino is still sidelined as well but the Gunners are Betfred's 11/8 favourites at the home of their bitter rivals, with Ange Postecoglou's men 15/8 outsiders.

That's probably because Spurs remain a little flaky, with a win, a draw and a defeat so far, but they certainly have the firepower to ask Arsenal a few questions.

It will be fascinating to see how Arteta rejigs his midfield and the general consensus is that he will field Thomas Partey and Jorginho as sitters, with Kai Havertz dropping back to provide the creativity.

Cards are always a good option for punters in this fixture and Partey was booked when Arsenal won 3-2 on their last trip across North London. The Ghana midfielder is 15/8 at Bet365 to be carded today while opposite number Yves Bissouma is 9/5 in the same market with Betfred.

Both of last season's derbies were thrillers, with BTTS and over 3.5 goals landing in both. Arsenal might play it a bit more cagey here but Postecoglou will attack as always so I'm expecting goals at both ends again.

The bookies share that view, with over 2.5 strikes just 8/15 at Betfred and BTTS priced 4/9. But over 3.5 strikes still pays a decent 11/8.

James Maddison will be a threat for Spurs and I like the 5/4 available for the playmaker to have an effort on target.

Wolverhampton Wanderers vs Newcastle top tips

The other game in Premier League today should be a good watch as well as Newcastle head to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Despite grumbles over a lack of transfer activity, the Magpies have got off to a good start with two wins and a draw so far.

The same can't be said of Wolves, who have collected just one point so far, and a slump that started towards the end of last term has continued into the new campaign.

They've still been scoring though and that's why combining BTTS with over 2.5 goals pays just 4/6 today at Betfred.

Stats bets provide better value and I like the evens available at Betfred for Joelinton to have a shot on target.

Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has been booked in two of this three outings this term and is 7/4 to go into the book again.

Dundee United vs Rangers top betting tips

Rangers headed into the international break on a downer after a 3-0 derby defeat at Celtic Park left them five points behind already in the SPFL Premiership title race.

They can ill afford to drop any more points at Tannadice today but face a tricky test against a Dundee United side who sit one point and one place above them in the early table.

Jim Goodwin's men lost their opening League Cup group game to Falkirk but have since gone eight games unbeaten, winning six of those matches.

Rangers look dodgy in defence so backing BTTS looks good at 5/6. If you combine that with over 2.5 goals it boosts the price to 6/5.

Ibrox striker Cyriel Dessers flopped in the derby once more but has scoring regularly agains the other Premiership sides. He's a tempting 13/10 for anytime scorer today and backing him to net with a header pays a whopping 11/1 at Bet365.
