IT'S been quite a while since we've had a bona fide title race in Scotland and today's showdown at Ibrox could determine if this year's Premiership will go to the wire.
A win for Rangers and it'll be game on as the teams will only be separated by goal difference with six games still to play. A win for Celtic and it's theirs to lose. That would give them a six-point lead, with a significant goal difference advantage and a match against Rangers at home still to come.
So it'll be fascinating to see the approach taken by either manager. Giovanni Van Bronckhorst knows it's a game he cannot afford to lose but he can't be gung-ho otherwise Celtic could pick them off.
Team news ahead of the game has certainly favoured the Hoops with Kyogo Furuhashi described as “raring to go” by his manager following a three-month lay-off. Ange Postecoglou reported a clean bill of health for his squad apart from the injured James Forrest. Things aren't so rosy for the Gers with star striker Alfredo Morelos ruled out of the match and possibly the run-in following his time away on international duty.
That makes it an advantage for Celtic on the personnel front and they've been nibbled at, in from 2/1 to 9/5. But Ibrox will be a cauldron. Only 700 Celtic fans will be in attendance as the clubs continue their squabble about away fans' tickets, so Rangers will be aiming to hammer home that advantage the same way Celtic did back in February when they won convincingly. The Gers have eased slightly in the betting to 31/20.
Willie Collum is the man in the middle and he's no stranger to controversy. Admittedly he's been quieter this year, only dishing out 3.82 yellows per match, below the league average. But he does love a red card and has sent five players off this season. It's just 2/1 for someone to be taking an early bath today. Similarly, Collum also isn't scared to point to the spot and a penalty to be awarded is 7/4. If you fancy a bit of that then you should also consider the two most likely penalty takers; James Tavernier at 7/1 to score first and 9/4 to score anytime or Josip Juranovic at 16/1 and 11/2.

Having a go at the Greek Super League 1 game between Olympiakos and AEK Athens.
Olympiakos won the league the last two years and they are the favourites to win it this season as well, even though they have not been at their best: they are 10 points ahead of PAOK with 8 games to play. AEK Athens are in 3rd place, 22 points behind Olympiakos and have had another difficult season: they have parted ways with two managers already and appointed their U23 manager as a caretaker for the remainder of the year a month ago.
Olympiakos’ manager, Pedro Martins, has been in charge for almost 4 years and has never lost to AEK Athens: he has 10 wins and 3 draws in 13 games and 6 wins in 6 home games having conceded only 1 goal in his first game in February 2019. The home results from February 2019 to February 2022: 4-1, 2-0, 3-0, 3-0, 2-0 and 1-0.
On the corner front, Olympiakos has hit 6, 4, 4, 6 (against AEK Athens), 12, 9, 7 in their last 7 home games. AEK Athens have conceded 3, 7 (against PAOK – 2nd in the league), 4, 5 (against Aris – 4th), 6 (against Olympiakos), 6 (against Panathinaikos – 5th in the league) and 1 (against Panathinaikos again) in their last 7 away games.

Small update: the odds for an Olympiakos’ win have increased, which is never a good sign. However, I had a look at Greek sports websites and there is no significant news update so I am sticking with last night’s selections.
Also adding something I missed last night: Olympiakos has played 7 derbies after a long break (due to Internationals, Covid or Christmas/holidays, etc) since the beginning of 2020 and has won all 7 of them: 4 against AEK Athens, 2 against Panathinaikos and 1 against PAOK.

Bookies seem to get it wrong with Celtic and corners anytime they play a bigger game than say at home to Dundee Utd or something but with better teams Celtic seem happier to take a corner rather than play back once the balls out to a winger who also put the ball in quicker v better teams. I know what you’re thinking ‘cards unders in an old firm game, he’s gone mad!’ But hear me out. I know the old firm derby has long been associated with flurries of red and yellow cards, hence why the card line has been set so high by the bookies. When you dig beneath the surface, in recent years there’s not been that many cards and we can take advantage of this.
The last 5 derbies have seen: 5,2,4,4,4, match cards and in a lot of those, cards came very late on. Yellow card bankers like Scott brown have moved on and recent games have been fairly tame affairs on the discipline front.
Under 6 cards is 11/10 and i’d not put anyone off getting on that. I’ve managed to find a bet builder i really like however that offers a bit more security.
This bet builder would have landed in the last 10 old firm games. You have to go back to early 2019 where 3 cards in the 96th minute would have downed this safe bet. You’d either have laid cover or had almost full cash out by the 95th minute anyway.
Willie collum is ref and even though he loves a red card, he only averages 3.9 cards per game. He likes to let the game flow hence why I feel he’ll keep his cards away first half.
You’d think if we get through the first half with under 3 cards, the bet will almost surely land with room allowed for 5 second half cards. With cards often coming very late, cash out will be nearly the full amount late on so do keep an eye out for that.
Finally, Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos will miss the derby with injury. He’s an absolute banker for a card so his absence helps us even more.

It’s great to have Bodo and the Norwegian leagues back. They’re superb for goals/corners and I’ll be betting on them most weeks.
Bodo have been a cash cow for 2 years now and I can see that carrying on again this season. They’ve been sublime in Europe which has given them the perfect pre season so they come in to this game match sharp and ready.
Rosenborg on the other hand are in disarray. They’re on their 5th manager in 3 years, they’ve had an abysmal pre season and I think Bodo are 8/15 (rather than around 1/4) for the win because of Rosenborg’s reputation only. But they’ve been average for years now, finishing outside the European spaces last year and haven’t recruited well again.
I nearly went for Bodo win/2+ bodo goals at 5/6 but went for the 4+ Bodo corners option instead. Mainly because I think Rosenborg will sit very deep and hope to counter attack from time to time. This should bring about plenty of Bodo corners. This could be a tight 1-0 with Bodo having to breakdown 2 lines of 5, hence why I’ve gone for the win/corners option. I also like the look of Bodo -2.5 corners handicap at 10/11 with bet365.
