After continuing his fine form with another winner on Wednesday night, SlipsTips shares a Bet Builder double ahead of Rangers' showdown with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership on Sunday.
Rangers vs Celtic, Sunday (12:00)
A crucial showdown in the Scottish Premiership title race awaits on Sunday as Old Firm foes Rangers and Celtic face off at Ibrox.
This season has not gone entirely to plan for Glasgow’s heavyweight duo, as both trail league leaders Hearts with the campaign entering its closing stages.
Adding to their woes, neither side secured maximum points last weekend – Rangers were held to a 2-2 draw at Livingston, while Celtic suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Hibernian.
Mikey Moore 2+ Shots
For the first half of what will be a Bet Builder double, I’m more than happy to back Mikey Moore to attempt two or more shots. As the season has developed, the Tottenham loanee has steadily become one of Rangers’ key players. One notable feature of Moore’s game is the sheer volume of shots he likes to fire off, with his shots per 90 average in the Scottish Premiership this season currently sitting at a hefty 2.94.
Dig a little deeper and the numbers reveal his eye for goal, with the 18-year-old letting fly multiple times in eight of his last 11 top-flight appearances. Particularly eye-catching are his six-shot haul away at Livingston last weekend and five efforts in Rangers’ previous home game against league leaders Hearts.
The case for this selection is reinforced by Moore’s Old Firm record this season. The Rangers forward has delivered multiple shots in each of the two Scottish Premiership derbies so far, notably firing three attempts away at Celtic in the last edition at the start of January, one of which resulted in a goal.
Julian Araujo To Commit 1+ Foul
I’m going to switch my attention to a Celtic player for the second leg of the Bet Builder double by backing Julian Araujo to commit a minimum of one foul. The Mexican right-back has arguably been the standout among Celtic’s January recruits so far, and one striking feature of his game is how frequently he commits fouls. In fact, Araujo has been penalised in each of his eight Scottish Premiership appearances for Celtic, a run that began on his debut against Rangers, when he got on the wrong side of the referee despite featuring for only 22 minutes as a substitute.
Team news permitting, the Bournemouth loanee could find himself in a direct battle with Djeidi Gassama. While the Rangers forward has blown hot and cold this season, one aspect of his game that has been consistent is his ability to earn free-kicks for his side – underlined by the fact that he has drawn an average of 2.47 fouls per 90 in the Scottish Premiership this season.
