SlipsTips examines the Bet Builder market ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham’s EFL Cup semi-final second leg showdown at Anfield on Thursday night.
Liverpool vs Tottenham (Thursday, 20:00)
Liverpool and Tottenham will renew hostilities for the second leg of their EFL Cup semi-final tie at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Arne Slot’s side head into the return match with work to do after falling to a 1-0 defeat away at Spurs last month.
Our man Kevin Mac has already covered this clash with an in-depth match preview, whereas I’m going to take a look at the Bet Builder market.
Liverpool Win
Liverpool must win inside 90 minutes if they are to stand any chance of progressing to next month’s Wembley showpiece and they should prove too hot for Tottenham to handle at Anfield. The Reds have remained a force to be reckoned with on home turf under Arne Slot’s guidance, winning eight of their 11 Premier League assignments at Anfield this season.
On top of that, Liverpool have also landed top honours in each of their four Champions League home games this season. That four-game sample includes wins over the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid, and their superior class should tell against a Tottenham team that have looked shaky at the back all season long.
Mohamed Salah To Score or Assist
For the second leg of the Bet Builder, I’ll opt for Mohamed Salah to either score or to provide an assist. The Liverpool talisman has been a regular thorn in Tottenham's side over the years, netting 14 goals in 22 appearances against them. The Egyptian ace has also chipped in with four assists for good measure across that 22-game stretch.
Salah scored one goal and set up another when Liverpool defeated Tottenham at Anfield in the Premier League last season and he has since bagged a brace against them in this season’s top-flight tussle at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Liverpool are expected to come flying out of the traps on Thursday night, and as always, Salah should be central to their attacking patterns. The Reds superstar will also be on spot kick duty and that only adds to the appeal of including this selection.
Over 6.5 Liverpool Corners
Roared on by a raucous Anfield crowd, Liverpool will almost certainly attack from the first whistle on Thursday night, making them an appealing prospect to earn seven or more corners during this second-leg showdown. Only two Premier League sides are averaging more flag-kicks per-game than Liverpool’s 6.65 this season.
As for Tottenham, they are conceding an average of just under six corners per 90 in this season’s top-flight. However, it’s worth pointing out that Spurs have shipped exactly 10 corners in each of their last two Premier League away days.
Taking into account the the dynamics of this particular tie, a minimum of seven corners from Liverpool should be well within range under the Anfield lights on Thursday night.
