Old Firm rivals Celtic and Rangers will renew hostilities in the Scottish Premiership at Parkhead on Sunday lunchtime.
Brendan Rodgers’ side are closing in on what would be a 13th Scottish top flight crown in 14 years, as well as a ninth domestic treble.
As for Rangers, there has been a real disparity between their European and domestic results this season, with the Ibrox club booking a Europa League quarter-final berth on Thursday night, landing money for us in this column in the process.
Despite crashing to a 3-0 defeat at Ibrox at the turn of the year, Celtic are understandable favourites on Sunday at a general 4/6 with most bookmakers.
With the runaway league leaders too short to support as a single, I’m instead going to highlight a player-based selection that stands out at the odds on offer.
Celtic’s man of the moment Daizen Maeda looks well worthy of support in the to score or assist market on Sunday afternoon at an eye-catching 21/20 with William Hill.
The Japanese ace continued his rich vein of form by scoring his 27th goal of the season during the Hoops’ 2-0 win over Hibernian in the Scottish Cup last Sunday.
That goal output is made all the more impressive by the fact that Maeda has also chipped in with nine assists across his 41 appearances in all competitions this season.
In fact, the 27-year-old has registered a goal involvement in each of the last 10 matches that he has started for Celtic, including both legs of last month’s Champions League play-off tie with Bayern Munich.
On top of all this, Maeda has been a regular thorn in Rangers side over the years, bagging against the Light Blues at Celtic Park earlier this season before repeating the trick in the Scottish League Cup final.
That doesn't augur well for a Rangers side that have a wretched road record in the Scottish Premiership this season, failing to keep a clean sheet in 10 of their 14 league games outside of Govan.
With all that in mind, back the aforementioned Maeda to make his mark when Scotland's heavyweights battle it out at Celtic Park on Sunday afternoon.
