After delivering back-to-back winners at the weekend, SlipsTips shares a Bet Builder double ahead of Scotland’s crunch World Cup qualifier with Denmark on Tuesday night.
Scotland vs Denmark (Tuesday, 19:45)
Scotland and Denmark will do battle in a crunch World Cup qualifier at Hampden on Tuesday night that will determine which of these two nations takes top spot in Group C.
Despite crashing to a 3-2 defeat in Greece on Saturday, Steve Clarke’s hosts remain masters of their own destiny as a win here would see the Scots end their 28-year exile from the World Cup.
Meanwhile, a win or a draw would be enough to secure Denmark a spot at next year's finals in North America.
Ryan Christie To Commit 1+ Foul
For the first half of what will be a player-based double, I’m going to include Ryan Christie to commit a minimum of one foul. The Scotland midfielder has averaged 1.03 fouls per game across his four appearances in Group C to date, overstepping the mark in all bar one of those four outings. Moreover, Christie was guilty of one offence during September’s reverse fixture with Denmark in Copenhagen.
It’s also worth noting that the 30-year-old was shown a yellow card against the Danes back on matchday one, while he also tackled his way into the referee’s notebook during Scotland’s home game with Greece last month.
It's been a similar story on the domestic scene this season, with Christie committing an average of 0.90 fouls per 90 when representing Bournemouth in the Premier League this term.
Christie is likely to come up against a number of technically gifted operators in the midfield battleground on Tuesday night, so he should have no shortage of defensive work to get through, and that only adds to the appeal of siding with him for one or more fouls.
Mikkel Damsgaard To Be Fouled Once or More
One player that the aforementioned Christie is likely to cross paths with during this contest is Mikkel Damsgaard. The diminutive Denmark midfielder has been a key performer for his country during the current World Cup qualifying campaign, netting three goals across his five appearances thus far.
The attacking threat that Damsgaard offers has coincided with him receiving some close attention from Denmark's opponents. In fact, the 25-year-old has been fouled in four of his five outings in Group C so far, including once against Scotland earlier this year.
Damsgaard has also been drawing fouls on a consistent basis for Brentford in the Premier League this season, earning his side an average of 1.00 free-kicks per game, drawing multiple fouls away from home against both Sunderland and Fulham.
With all that in mind, I'm more than happy to conclude the double by backing the Danish ace to be brought down at least once during this do-or-die clash.
