After delivering another winning selection on Monday night, SlipsTips shares a Bet Builder ahead of Wolves' clash with Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Wolves vs Arsenal, Wednesday (20:00)
The solitary Premier League fixture this midweek sees Wolverhampton Wanderers host Arsenal at Molineux on Wednesday night – a meeting that pits the division’s bottom side against its leaders.
Wolves gave their supporters a much-needed boost with a hard-fought 0-0 draw away at Nottingham Forest last midweek, yet they remain marooned at the foot of the table and 18 points from safety.
As for Arsenal, they continue to lead the way in the Premier League, although last week’s 1-1 draw at Brentford cut their advantage over Manchester City to four points.
Arsenal Win
For most of the season, Wolves’ relegation has felt inevitable rather than merely possible, and that doesn’t bode well ahead of a visit from Arsenal on Wednesday night. Wolves did lift spirits with a 0-0 draw away at Nottingham Forest last week, but it’s hard to ignore the fact that they have lost a whopping 19 of their 26 Premier League matches this season, including 10 of their 13 home outings.
While Arsenal stumbled on their travels last midweek at Brentford, a trip to Wales should represent a more straightforward challenge, not to mention Mikel Arteta's men boast the best away record in the division this season. With all that in mind, I’m more than happy to back the Gunners to get the job done for the first leg of the Bet Builder.
Declan Rice 1+ Tackle
For the first of two player-based selections, I’m backing Declan Rice to make at least one tackle at Molineux on Wednesday night. The Arsenal ace is the epitome of an all-round midfielder, and his all-action style sees him carry out a lot of the dirty work in the midfield battleground. That’s underlined by the fact that Rice has averaged 1.05 successful tackles per game in the Premier League this season, registering at least one in 17 of his 25 top-flight appearances to date, including each of his last nine away from home.
Declan Rice 1+ Shot
Sticking with the aforementioned Rice, I’m also backing the Gunners midfielder to attempt at least one shot during this contest. The England international has been pulling the trigger on a regular basis in the Premier League this season, averaging 1.39 shots per game. A closer look shows that Rice has tried his luck in 18 of his 25 top-flight appearances this term, including three efforts in this season’s reverse fixture against Wolves.
The fact that the struggling hosts are conceding just under 14 shots per game in the Premier League this season only strengthens the case for making this the final selection of the Bet Builder.
