Kicking off a bumper Saturday of Premier League action, Manchester United will play host to Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
Having won each of their three Premier League matches under Michael Carrick’s watch, the Red Devils will be looking to keep the feel-good factor flowing this weekend.
As for Spurs, they will be hoping last week’s comeback from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Manchester City can act as a turning point and spark a positive run of results and a strong end to the season.
Conor Gallagher To Commit 1+ Foul
For the first of three player-based selections, I'm going to include Conor Gallagher to commit a minimum of one foul. The new Tottenham recruit is well known for playing with a combative edge, something that was evident during his time at Chelsea in the Premier League and, as expected, continued under Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.
That trend has shown no signs of easing in a Spurs shirt. Across his first three Premier League appearances for his new club, Gallagher has overstepped the mark a combined total of five times, giving away no fewer than three set pieces during last week’s 2-2 draw with Manchester City.
With the midfield battle also likely to feature the likes of Manchester United’s Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes, Gallagher looks a strong candidate to be penalised at least once at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Casemiro To Commit 1+ Foul
That leads me quite nicely into my second selection, where I'm going to back the aforementioned Casemiro to also commit at least one foul during this contest. The experienced Manchester United midfielder is renowned for his terrier-like displays and fierce competitiveness, traits that often see him fall foul of the referee.
That has certainly been the case again this season, with the all-action Brazilian committing an average of 1.80 fouls per game in the Premier League. A closer look shows that Casemiro has overstepped the mark at least once in 11 of his last 12 top-flight outings, notably giving away two or more free-kicks in seven of those fixtures.
Xavi Simons 1+ Shot
I’m going to conclude the Bet Builder by siding with Xavi Simons to register at least one shot. The Spurs forward has been a serial shot hitter in the Premier League this season, underlined by the fact that he is averaging 1.96 efforts per game.
Digging a little deeper, it can be seen that Simons’ shot counts have been on the rise in recent weeks, registering 4, 4, 2 and 5 efforts in four of his last seven top-flight appearances, the latter of which came against Man City last weekend.
The case for this selection becomes even stronger when considering that the Dutchman has delivered at least one effort in each of his last three outings for Spurs in the Champions League.
Combined, the above-mentioned player-based treble will bring about a 4/5 play on bet365, which looks like good value.
