Kilmarnock vs Hearts, Saturday (20:00)

Kilmarnock’s clash with Hearts will carry huge implications at both ends of the Scottish Premiership table when the sides meet at Rugby Park on Saturday night.

Neil McCann’s hosts currently sit 11th and will be eager to move closer to guaranteed safety with a crucial victory.

As for league leaders Hearts, they will be aiming to take another step towards clinching the Scottish Premiership title by securing a third consecutive win.

Over 3 Kilmarnock Corners

For the first leg of what will be a Bet Builder Double, I’m backing Kilmarnock to earn a minimum of four corners. Not only has there been a noticeable upturn in the majority of Kilmarnock’s performances since hiring Neil McCann, but they have also been racking up some eye-catching corner counts.

Across the last three Scottish Premiership home matches, Killie earned six corners against Celtic, while hitting nine and seven flags respectively in their wins over St Mirren and Aberdeen. While Kilmarnock may not reach those numbers again this time around, four or more should be well within reach against a Hearts side that is conceding an average of 4.48 corners per game in the Scottish Premiership this season – having been forced to defend exactly four corner kicks when they visited this venue earlier in the campaign.

It’s also worth noting that Derek McInnes’ side have conceded exactly four corners in each of their last two Scottish Premiership matches, at home to Falkirk and Aberdeen.

Over 1 Kilmarnock Card

With plenty riding on this clash for both teams, I’m going to conclude the Bet Builder double by siding with Kilmarnock to collect a minimum of two cards. The Rugby Park side have been among the most ill-disciplined teams in the Scottish Premiership this season, averaging 2.21 yellow cards per game.

What's more, since making a managerial change at the turn of the year, Kilmarnock have picked up multiple bookings in five of their nine matches across all competitions, including each of the previous two. Even more striking, the Ayrshire outfit have accumulated no fewer than four red cards across that nine-game stretch.

The case for backing this selection is further strengthened by the fact that Hearts are drawing an average of 2.43 cards per 90 in the Scottish top-flight this season. On top of that, Kilmarnock have picked up multiple cards in each of their previous two meetings with the table-topping Jam Tarts this term.

Combined, the above selections produce an appealing 11/10 shot on bet365 that looks good value.

Recommended Bet

  • Over 3 Kilmarnock Corners
  • Over 1 Kilmarnock Card
  • Bet Builder – 11/10 (bet365)
