Fresh from Thursday night's winner, SlipsTips shares a Bet Builder ahead of Kilmarnock’s clash with Ayr United in the Scottish League Cup on Friday night.

Kilmarnock vs Ayr, Friday (19:45)

Kilmarnock and Ayr United will renew hostilities when the Ayrshire rivals contest a last 16 tie in the Scottish League Cup at Rugby Park on Friday night.

After progressing through the group stage, Kilmarnock have lost each of their opening two Scottish Premiership matches of the season, going down 4-3 at St Johnstone before being hammered 5-1 by Celtic.

As for Ayr United, they have yet to taste defeat this term, having won all four of their group games before beating Arbroath and drawing with Dunfermline in the Scottish Championship.

Over 3.5 Kilmarnock Corners

For the first half of what will be a Bet Builder double, I'm backing Kilmarnock to earn a minimum of four corners. The hosts have been fairly reliable on the flag-kick front under Neil McCann's watch since he took the reins at the turn of the year. That was evident during the group stage of the League Cup, with Kilmarnock comfortably covering the over 3.5 line in each of their four matches. Further encouragement comes from the fact that Killie managed to force five flag kicks against Celtic last weekend.

The fact that Ayr United conceded 12 corners away at Dunfermline last weekend only adds to the appeal of siding with this selection.

Over 1.5 Ayr Cards

With tensions likely to be high given that there is little love lost between these two Ayrshire rivals, I'm going to conclude the Bet Builder double by backing Ayr to collect a minimum of two cards. Admittedly, Ayr have not been picking up too many bookings in the early stages of the season, but I'm prepared to look beyond that here given the magnitude of this match for both clubs and the fact that it will be played in front of what should be a packed-out Rugby Park.

Moreover, it is worth noting that Kilmarnock drew two cards from St Johnstone in their opening Scottish Premiership match of the season. Looking further back, seven of the final eight sides to visit Rugby Park last season collected a minimum of two bookings. All the signs therefore point towards that trend continuing in what should be a fiery cup tie on Friday night.

Combined, this double will bring about a 5/6 Bet Builder that offers plenty of value.

Recommended Bet

  • Over 3.5 Kilmarnock Corners
  • Over 1.5 Ayr Cards
  • Bet Builder – 5/6 (bet365)
