Tottenham Hotspur vs Aston Villa

, KO: 14:00 Nov 26, 2023, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Aston Villa

TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR will be looking to halt their two-game losing run in the Premier League when they host Aston Villa on Sunday.

After making a dream start to life under Ange Postecoglou, a pair back-to-back defeats have brought Spurs back down to earth with a bump.

Last time out, the capital club suffered a late collapse in a 2-1 loss at Wolves, on an afternoon where my Molineux Bet Builder banked.

As such, Tottenham have dropped down to fourth place in the Premier League table and things are unlikely to get any easier when Aston Villa come to town.

Following a 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forest, Unai Emery’s side got back in the winning groove with a 3-1 success against Fulham, in another game that brought up one of my Bet Builders.

The Villians make the trip south just one point behind Spurs so a win here would see them leapfrog their London hosts in the top-flight standings.

Outright Betting

Tottenham Hotspur are 13/10 (Bet 365) favourites to get back on track while a first Spurs stalemate of the season in front of their own supporters has been priced up at 14/5 (Bet 365).

Aston Villa do the majority of their best work at home and that is reflected in the odds, with the visitors the 9/5 (Bet 365) outsiders.

Betting Angles

This feels like a tricky fixture to tackle from a 1×2 perspective so I'm going to highlight an alternative offering via the Bet Builder market and merge Pedro Porro and Lucas Digne to each commit a foul at 20/21 (Bet 365).

Spurs full-back Porro has been a fierce competitor under Ange Postecoglou's tutorship, averaging a whopping 3.5 tackles per-game in the Premier League this season so far.

That has coincided with the Spanish defender committing an average of 1.2 fouls per 90, and there is plenty of score for him to be reprimanded at least once on Sunday given that he could be operating in the same vicinity as Villa livewire Moussa Diaby.

However, both Villa full-backs can also expect a tough afternoon on Sunday, so I'll also take Lucas Digne – who is averaging 1.1 fouls per-game – to be reprimanded at least once by referee Rob Jones.

The fiery Frenchman is no stranger to Premier League referees' notebooks, having already clocked up four cautions in 12 appearances this term, and he should have his hands full here given the directness and trickery of Dejan Kulusevski, who is likely to be his direct opponent.

Given that there is plenty of scope for this contest to be action-packed, the above-mentioned Bet Builder looks enticing at a shade below evens with Bet 365.

On a similar line of thought to the above, I'll also back Lucas Digne to commit a foul and Dejan Kulusevski to be fouled at 11/10 with Paddy Power.

The Spurs forward's dribbling skills often causes defenders all sorts of problems and the Swede could well draw at least one foul from Villa left-back Dinge.
