Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton and Hove Albion

, KO: 15:00 Feb 10, 2024, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Brighton and Hove Albion

IF you were going to pick a Premier League game to watch as a neutral then Tottenham Hotspur v Brighton and Hove Albion would be pretty high on the list with both managers committed to swashbuckling, high-risk football.

The first showdown between Ange Postecoglou and Roberto De Zerbi this season certainly didn't disappoint, with six goals flying in as the Seagulls soared to a 4-2 victory on the south coast.

Tottenham Hotspur have responded well since that loss in late December, going four games without defeat in the Premier League to get back into the mix for a top-four finish.

But Saturday's 2-2 draw with Everton will have felt like a defeat, given Jarrad Branthwaite bundled home a leveller for the Toffees deep into stoppage time on another good day for our man Slips Tips.

Postecoglou will be desperate to respond with a victory over Brighton and it's hard to know what to expect from the Seagulls as they have gone from the ridiculous to the sublime in their last two outings.

A 4-0 loss at Luton Town would have busted plenty of coupons but De Zerbi's side responded in the best possible way by routing bitter rivals Crystal Palace 4-1 as two bets landed for our man Gabriel.

That has left Brighton and Hove Albion sitting eighth, nine points behind Spurs, but a victory in London would give them a huge boost as they bid to qualify for Europe for a second season running.

How the bookies view it

The bookies reckon home advantage gives Tottenham Hotspur the edge for this one as their best price is just 17/20 with Bet365. Brighton and Hove Albion look a bit overpriced at 14/5 with Unibet while the draw pays 10/3 at 888Sport.

Recent head to head

Tottenham Hotspur have held the upper hand in this fixture since Brighton's return to the top flight, winning nine of the 14 meetings and losing four. When the Seagulls last came calling they lost 2-1, with Harry Kane scoring a late winner.

Players to watch

Richarlison is flying for the first time in his Spurs career with last week's double against old club Everton making it nine goals in his last 10 matches. The Brazilian is 29/20 for another goal here and that looks good value.

Teenager Jack Hinshelwood scored against Tottenham Hotspur at the AMEX and also got on the scoresheet last time out against Palace. The midfielder looks to be a goal threat and long-odds punters will fancy a nibble at 8/1 for anytime scorer in this game. He's also 2/1 with Unibet just to have a shot on target which looks worth a punt.

Anything else catch the eye?

Everything points towards goals in this one and the bookies are going on the defensive, with BTTS just 11/25 at BetMGM and over 2.5 goals only paying 21/50 with the same firm. Going to over 3.5 goals boosts the odds to evens at Bet365 while over 1.5 first-half goals pays 11/10 at Paddy Power.

With both teams playing a high defensive line we should see plenty of offsides too and the flag went up seven times in the last meeting. I can't find any offside markets at the moment but Unibet should have some prices closer to the day of the game.

Cristian Romero has gone six games without a card and that suggests the Tottenham hothead is due some trouble with the officials. He's 12/5 at Unibet to go in the book and that looks good after five yellows and one red so far this season.
