PSG vs BrestFrench Ligue 1, KO: 20:00 Jan 15, 2022, Parc des Princes
PSG continue their march towards reclaiming the French Ligue 1 title as they host Brest on Saturday. The Parisians remain imperious at home and should be too strong for Brest who are having a difficult campaign.
Despite sitting 11 points clear at the top, PSG's march towards the Ligue 1 title has not been as smooth as they wold like. Thy have not been as dominant this season and have dropped some needless points.
Things have been particularly difficult for PSG in recent weeks as they have claimed just one win from their last five Ligue 1 matches. They were held to a 1-1 draw by Lyon in their previous fixture with Thilo Kehrer’s late effort earning them a share of the spoils.
In the midst of all these problems, PSG have remained solid at the Parc des Princes where they are still unbeaten this season. Mauricio Pochettino’s men have claimed eight wins from nine home matches this term and triumphed 2-0 over Monaco in their previous fixture in front of their fans.
Brest are having a different campaign from PSG and have spent much of the season in the bottom half of the table. However, sitting nine points above the bottom three, they are in no present danger of getting dragged into a relegation battle.
Things have gotten worse for Brest who travel to the capital winless in their last three Ligue 1 matches. They have suffered two defeats in that run and were beaten 3-0 at home by Nice in their previous fixture.
One of the problems for Brest is a shaky backline that has seen them keep just one clean sheet in their last six Ligue 1 matches. Michel Der Zakarian’s men have also conceded eight goals in the last three fixtures in that run.
