PSG vs Brest

, KO: 20:00 Sep 14, 2024, Parc des Princes
Brest

PSG are aiming to maintain their 100% start as they host Brest in a Ligue 1 fixture on Saturday. The champions have looked almost unstoppable and should be too strong for Brest, who have only won once so far.

PSG have begun the post-Kylian Mbappe era on an impressive note as they are maintaining a 100% record after three matches. They claimed a 3-1 victory over Lille in their previous Ligue 1 fixture with Bradley Barcola, Vitinha and Randal Kolo-Muani getting the goals.

Little has changed with PSG this season, particularly in attack as they have scored at least three goals in each of their games so far. Luis Enrique’s men claimed a 6-0 victory over Montpellier in their previous fixture at the Parc des Prince.

Expected to struggle at the other end of the spectrum, Brest have made a difficult start to the season. Eric Roy’s men have suffered two defeats in their opening three matches and will be keen to get their campaign up and running.

The good news for Brest is that they went into the international break with an impressive 4-0 victory over Saint-Etienne. They had four different goalscorers with Mahdi Camara, Romain Del Castillo, Ludovic Ajorque and Kenny Lala all on target.

How the bookies view it: Parisians overwhelming favourites

PSG have been installed as overwhelming favourites with a home win priced at 1/4 by Betfred. An unlikely victory for Brest is valued at 15/2 while Betfred is also offering odds of 9/2 for a draw.

Head to head: PSG always win

PSG have never lost to Brest, claiming 16 wins and two draws from 18 previous matches The Parisians claimed a 3-1 victory in the last meeting at the Parc des Princes back in February.

Players to watch: Barcola stepping up

Barcola is starting to show he is ready for the big time having scored four goals in three Ligue 1 matches so far. The young forward will be the one to watch for PSG on Saturday and is priced at 8/5 by Betfred to get in the score sheet.

Much of Brest’s attacking play goes through Ajorque and the forward could be worth keeping an eye on in the capital. He was on target in the previous fixture and is priced at 4/1 by Betfred to find the net once again.

Probable line-ups

Presnel Kimpembe, Lucas Hernandez and Goncalo Ramos are all sidelined with injury and will miss Saturday’s clash. Fabian Ruiz is expected to start having come off the bench last time out while Barcola should continue in attack.

Brest are without midfielder Pierre Lees-Melou, who is currently sidelined with injury. They are likely to stick with the team that beat Saint-Etienne with Ajorque and Del Castillo expected to start in attack.
