Netherlands vs Qatar

, KO: 15:00 Nov 29, 2022, Al-Bayt Stadium
Qatar

NETHERLANDS will set out to secure the victory that would see them seal their passage to the knockout stage of the World Cup when they come against Qatar on Tuesday afternoon.

The Oranje opened up their campaign with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Senegal before playing out a 1-1 Ecuador last time out.

Louis Van Gaal's team were rather laboured and somewhat fortuitous in both of those games, but points are points, and the Dutch are now in pole position to qualify.

While the task is still not finished for the Netherlands, their final group game against Qatar should be far more straightforward than the previous two.

The host nation were given a baptism of fire in their Group A curtain-raiser as they became the first host nation to lose the opening game of a World Cup, slumping to a 2-0 defeat against Ecuador.

Felix Sanchez’s side did manage to improve slightly, as they were beaten 3-1 by Senegal on Friday in a game which saw them abruptly eliminated from the competition, as well as bringing up my recommended bet in the process.

Outright Betting

Netherlands, who are currently riding on a 17-match unbeaten run, head into their final Group A assignment as red-hot 13/100 (Highbet) favourites.

Qatar, who are only the second host nation in World Cup history to go out in the group stage, bring the curtain down on their maiden campaign as 16/1 (Highbet) underdogs while the draw is an unfancied 63/10 (Highbet).

Betting Angles

It goes without saying that Netherlands are too short to side with here so I'll head to Bet 365‘s Bet Builder market and combine Netherlands Half Time/Full Time and over zero Netherlands second-half goals at 20/21 (Bet 365).

While this should be an easy task for the Dutch, concentration and professionalism will be required to see them over the line.

What's more, the Oranje still have the added incentive of finishing top of the section to increase their chances securing a more favourable last 16 draw.

The very obvious gulf in quality should ensure that the Netherlands win this game and I expect them to set out to swat aside their opponents with minimal fuss.

As already alluded to, Qatar have looked out of their depth on the world stage, having shipped five goals across their opening two pool fixtures, leaking strikes either side of the interval against Senegal last time out.

As such, merging Netherlands Half Time/Full Time and over zero Dutch second-half strikes looks like a nice alternative angle at 20/21 (Bet 365).

With all things considered, the 13/10 (PaddyPower) about the Netherlands to win both halves also holds appeal given the gap in resources between the two teams.

The above-mentioned bet would have paid out in Qatar's clash with Senegal so siding with the same selection here looks worthy of interest given Louis Van Gaal's side possesses far superior quality.
