Italy vs Wales

, KO: 17:00 Jun 20, 2021, Stadio Olimpico
Wales

ITALY will be looking to continue their impeccable start to Euro 2020 when they welcome Wales to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening.

Roberto Mancini's men hit the ground running with a well-deserved 3-0 win over Turkey in the tournament's curtain-raiser.

The Azzurri then put on another superb display when swatting aside Switzerland by the same scoreline on Wednesday, on a night where both of my recommended bets banked.

That triumph confirmed Italy's place in the last-16 and a point against Wales would be enough to secure first place in the section.

Wales themselves are in a strong position to qualify for the knockout stage of their second European Championship in succession.

Robert Page's posse were mighty impressive in their 2-0 win over Turkey last time out, a result that has put the Welsh on the brink of booking a last-16 berth.

Outright Betting

Italy have avoided defeat in each of their last 29 matches and the host nation are red-hot favourites here at 1/2 with William Hill.

Wales are big underdogs at 8/1 with UniBet while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 3/1 with the same firm.

Betting Angles

My recommended Bet Builder landed during Italy's 3-0 win over Switzerland and I'm going to support a similar formula at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday.

If we combine Italy to win, under five match goals and over two Italy corners we can get some 4/5 ( Bet 365) and that looks like a nice way in.

The Italians resurgence under Mancini can be attributed to their extraordinary defensive record, with the Azzurri posting 10 clean sheets across each of their last 10 tussles.

What's more, the host nation has shutout their opponents in 22 of their last 29 assignments, winning a whopping 24 of those games in the process.

Indeed, Mancini may well shuffle his pack on Sunday, however, the Italian chief has some serious firepower in reserve, all of whom will be keen to make the most of their opportunity to shine.

With that in mind, I'm more than happy to combine an Italy win alongside under five match strikes, but in order to nudge up the price, I'll throw over two Italian corners into the equation.

The Azzurri are likely to dominate possession for long stages during this clash, not to mention they have hit two or more flag kicks in each of their opening two fixtures at this year's finals.

I'll also dip into the team goal market and take the 4/5 on offer with Betfred for Italy to score two or more goals on Sunday.

Neither side has much to play for here that so that could lead to an open and entertaining encounter in the Eternal City.

What's more, Mancini's men have made the net bulge at least twice in each of their last 10 matches so I'm more than happy to side with a repeat here as Group A reaches its climax.
