With no more international breaks before the end of the season, the task for Empoli will be to secure their survival for another season. They have endured a poor campaign and are just one point above the relegation zone.
The problem for Empoli is that they have not shown the level of fight required to beat the drop having lost their last three matches. They head into Monday’s clash off the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Bologna in their previous Serie A fixture.
Although Empoli were beaten 1-0 at AC Milan in their previous fixture on the road, they have done some good work on their travels. Davide Nicola’s men overcame Sassuolo 3-1 and edged out Salernitana 3-2 prior to their trip to San Siro.
