Scotland will look to maintain their hopes of finishing top of Group C as they travel to Piraeus to take on Greece in a crucial World Cup qualifier.
After an opening night draw away at Denmark, Scotland have gone on to win each of their next three qualifiers to sit level on points with Denmark at the top of Group C, albeit with an inferior goal difference.
Steve Clarke’s visitors went on to win away at Belarus three days after that draw in Copenhagen, before back-to-back home wins over Greece and Belarus last month have given The Tartan Army hope of ending their 28-year exile from the World Cup.
Greece began their World Cup qualifying campaign by thrashing Belarus 5-1 at home, but since then, it’s gone downhill for Ivan Jovanovic’s men.
The Ethniki lost 0-3 at home to Denmark three days after that success over Belarus, before back-to-back defeats away at Scotland and Denmark last month ended their World Cup hopes.
How the bookies view it: Greece favourites
Despite already being eliminated, Greece are favourites to claim all three points in Piraeus on Saturday night, with BOYLE Sports pricing a home success at 11/10.
Scotland are 9/4 to record a fourth successive victory in Group C, whilst the draw is 11/5.
Head to head: Scotland with the upper hand
Scotland have already defeated Greece twice in 2025, including a 3-1 victory in their previous meeting at Hampden last month.
Steve Clarke’s men were also victorious in their last trip to Piraeus, winning 0-1 in the first leg of their Nations League playoff tie.
Greece did get the last laugh in that tie, winning the second leg 0-3 in Glasgow three days later.
Players to watch: Tzolis to cause more trouble?
Christos Tzolis has been in fantastic form so far this season, with the Club Brugge winger already scoring eight goals and providing nine assists in his opening 23 appearances for the Belgian giants.
Tzolis has also scored six goals across his previous 14 caps for Greece, including one in Denmark last time out, and I like the 5/4 on offer at PaddyPower for him to Score or Assist on Thursday night.
Predicted line-ups:
Greece will be missing Konstantinos Mavropanos and Fotis Ioannidis through injury, whilst Nectarios Triantis and Charalampos Kostoulas have received their first call-ups.
Steve Clarke will be without Billy Gilmour, Lennon Miller, Ross McCrorie and goalkeeper Angus Gunn through injury, meaning 42-year-old Craig Gordon could be handed the gloves.
Greece: Vlachodimos, Rota, Restos, Koulierakis, Tsimikas, Kourbelis, Zafeiris, Karetsas, Bakasetas, Tzolis, Pavlidis
Scotland: Gordon, Ralston, Souttar, Hanley, Robertson, Ferguson, Christie, McGinn, Doak, McTominay, Adams
Anything else catch the eye?
Greece’s opening four World Cup qualifiers have been full of goals, with them averaging an impressive 4.25 goals per game, with Over 2.5 Goals paying out in all four (100%) of them.
Digging a little deeper, Over 2.5 Goals has also been a winning selection in 10 of their previous 13 internationals in front of their supporters.
What’s more, five of Scotland’s last seven and nine of their past 14 internationals have seen three or more goals, and a repeat pays an appealing 1/1 at BOYLE Sports.
