The Eagles were favourites to lift the trophy before a ball was kicked and finally hit top form in Europe with a thrilling 3-0 win in last week's quarter-final first leg.

I thought Oliver Glasner's side would come flying out the traps after a three-week rest and that's how it transpired as they were 2-0 up inside 31 minutes.

Ismaila Sarr's header in the final minute looks to have killed this tie stone dead and Fiorentina now need an epic comeback to keep their European hopes alive.

The Serie A side have reached the semi-finals of this tournament in the last three seasons and can't be written off.

But Crystal Palace should be able to see this tie out, with Fiorentina having a troubled Serie A season and battling against the drop domestically.

How the bookies view it: No Italian sob for Palace

Crystal Palace are red-hot favourites to qualify at just 1/50 with most firms but you can back them at 9/5 for a win in Italy. Fiorentina are slight 8/5 favourites with Bet365 for a second-leg victory and backing them to turn the tie around pays a whopping 18/1 at Bet365. The draw tonight is a best 12/5 at StarSports.

Head to head: On the level for La Viola

Crystal Palace's first-leg triumph made it five defeats and five victories for Fiorentina in their 12 games against English clubs in Europe. They last hosted a Premier League side a decade ago, drawing 1-1 with Spurs in the Europa League.

Players to watch: Mateta back in the good books

Jean-Philippe Mateta was a target for the Palace boo boys after revealing he wanted to quit the club. But all is now seemingly forgiven after he followed up last week's strike against Fiorentina with a match-winning double against Newcastle on Sunday. The striker is 9/5 at StarSports for another goal in Italy.

Moise Kean was a big miss for Fiorentina in the first leg and they will be hoping he's fit to return in Florence after also missing Monday's 1-0 win over Lazio. The Italy striker is 7/4 at BetMGM for anytime scorer if he does recover in time.

Probable line-ups

Kean is the big fitness doubt for Fiorentina while Manor Solomon and Fabiano Parisi also missed the first leg with injuries.

Jorgen Strand Larsen returns from suspension for Palace but it would be a big call for Glasner to drop Mateta after three goals in a week. Cheick Doucoure and Eddie Nketiah remain sidelined.

Fiorentina: De Gea, Dodo, Pongracic, Ranieri, Gosens, Ndour, Fagioli, Fabbian, Gudmundsson, Harrison, Kean.

Crystal Palace: Henderson, Munoz, Lacroix, Richards, Canvot, Mitchell, Lerma, Kamada, Wharton, Sarr, Mateta, Guessand.

Anything else catch the eye?

With a three-goal cushion, I'd imagine Crystal Palace will sit back in Florence and look to hit on the counter attack.

That could see the corner count rise for the Italian side but I've yet to see any prices for that market.

Frustration could mount for Fiorentina if they fail to get back into the tie so I fancy the Serie A team for most cards at 6/4 with Bet365.

Former Leeds winger Jack Harrison didn't get much joy in the first leg but he has a decent long-range strike on him. The American is 6/5 at Bet365 to have an effort on target.

Palace wing-backs Daniel Munoz and Tyrick Mitchell committed a combined nine fouls in the weekend win over Newcastle. Munoz is evens for over 1.5 fouls in this game and adding on over 0.5 fouls for Mitchell boosts the price to 135/100 at Paddy Power.
