Feyenoord vs Lazio

, KO: 17:45 Oct 25, 2023, De Kuip
Lazio

FEYNOORD and Lazio lock horns in a pivotal showdown in Champions League Group E at De Kuip on Wednesday evening.

The two teams are separated by one point in the section, with the Dutch champions sitting in third place and the Italians one place in front in second spot, one point adrift of group leaders Atletico Madrid.

Arne Slot's hosts marked their return to Europe's top table with a 2-0 win over Celtic before losing 3-2 to the aforementioned Atleti on Matchday Two, on a night where both of my bets clicked in the Spanish capital.

Last time out, the Pride of the South secured their seventh straight win in the Eredivisie with a comfortable 4-0 victory at home to Vitesse.

As for Lazio, they added to the point they picked up via their dramatic 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid by pinching all three points with a last-gasp 2-1 win at Celtic.

That Parkhead triumph appears to have acted as catalyst for their good form of late, with Maurizio Sarri's men since securing back-to-back wins in Serie A against both Atalanta and Sassuolo respectively.

Outright Betting

Despite winning just two of their last nine Champions League home matches, Feyenoord are odds-on 17/20 favourites with Bet 365.

Lazio are 14/5 (Bet 365) outsiders as they bid to make it consecutive wins in Group E while a point apiece at De Kuip is chalked up at a best price of 3/1 (Bet 365).

Betting Angles

I suspect this crunch clash could be closer than the above odds suggest, so rather than taking the hosts prevail, I'll instead side with them to score Over 1.5 Goals at 4/5 with Bet 365.

Arne Slot's attack-minded outfit have been scoring goals for fun all season long, with their latest four-goal haul taking their tally to a league-best of 32 in nine Eredivisie outings this term.

What's more, the Pride of the South have showcased their attacking potency in each of their opening two Champions League assignments, having hit multiple strikes in both of those matches

That doesn't augur well for a Lazio side that leak more than their fair share and have yet to keep their sheets clean in this season's Champions League.

It's also worth pointing out that Maurizio Sarri's side have just two shutouts to their name in 11 outings across all competitions this season, so they could struggle to tame Feyenoord's free-scoring front line.

Given that this bet would have provided profit form each of Feyenoord's last 10 fixtures, siding with the same wager in Rotterdam on Wednesday evening at 4/5 (Bet 365) is a price that definitely represents value.

After having to sit out Feyenoord's opening two Group E fixtures, one player who looks worth considering to mark his Champions League debut with a goal is Santiago Gimenez at 11/8 (Bet 365).

The Mexican goal machine has already smashed in 13 strikes in nine Eredivisie appearances this season and he can announce his arrival on Europe's main stage by making the net bulge against a Lazio side without a clean sheet in their last 12 Champions League away games.
