Both of these teams suffered defeat in their opening fixtures, with Sudan going down 3-0 to Algeria and Equatorial Guinea dramatically losing 2-1 to Burkina Faso through goals scored in the 95th and 98th minutes respectively.

How the bookies see it: A struggle to determine a favourite

With these nations placed 97th and 117th in the FIFA World Rankings, it should come as no surprise that Bet365 are struggling to separate these teams.

Equatorial Guinea are the marginal 11/8 favourites with Sudan only 23/10 outsiders. The draw at 2/1 will also be of temptation to punters.

Head to head: Past meetings few and far between

These teams have squared off on just the two occasions, which came during the qualification campaign ahead of the 2019 tournament.

Equatorial Guinea prevailed each time, initially winning their home fixture by a 1-0 scoreline.

Just over half-a-year later in March 2019, they recorded a 4-1 victory on away territory, with Emilio Nsue scoring two of their goals.

Player to watch: Will Nsue be recalled?

Nsue – now the age of 36 – is Equatorial Guinea's top scorer in their history with 22 goals from 49 games, yet he remained as an unused substitute against Burkina Faso.

Basilio Ndong's sending off ultimately impacted on his chances of being introduced, yet the veteran may be recalled for this contest when his most recent international goal came as recently as June versus Cameroon.

As for Sudan, Mohamed Abdelrahman is their obvious go-to player with 23 goals from 62 international appearances, and he, too, could be recalled after being limited to 23 minutes versus Algeria.

Probable lineups:

When Ndong was dismissed against Burkina Faso, Charles Ondo was introduced into the backline, and that is likely to be the case here.

If Nsue comes back into the attack, Pepin Machin could be the player to drop out after being substituted midway through the second half last time out.

Although substitute Marvin Anieboh scored as a substitute, it is unclear whether that will be enough for the defender to start given that he was introduced in the 82nd minute.

Meanwhile, Salah Adel will miss out for Sudan after his first-half sending off against Algeria.

Abdelrahman could return to the attack with Mo Eisa reverting to the flank to accommodate his return.

Equatorial Guinea: Owono; Akapo, Orozco, Coco, Ondo; Salvador, Mascarell, Ganet, Asue; Zuniga, Nsue

Sudan: Elneel; Awad, Ahmed, Karshom, Khamis; Taifour, Abuaagla, Omer; A.Eisa, Abdelrahman, M.Eisa

Anything else catch the eye?

Sudan have won just one of their last 11 international fixtures, which was a 2-1 win over Lebanon in Arab Cup qualification.

They have also failed to score in nine games across that period, albeit keeping three clean sheets along the way.

However, it should be noted that Equatorial Guinea have only won three of their last 11 games, two of the victories coming against Sao Tome and Principie.

That said, as well as only being edged out by Burkina Faso in dramatic circumstances, they also have a narrow 1-0 defeat to Tunisia on their recent record.
