Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

, KO: 16:00 , Selhurst Park
Arsenal

Newly-crowned Premier League champions Arsenal travel to Selhurst Park to take on Conference League finalists Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

Arsenal were officially crowned Premier League champions on Tuesday night, as Manchester City could only draw 1-1 away at Bournemouth.

After losing each of their opening two matches in April, it looked like Mikel Arteta’s men would become bridesmaids in the Premier League once again, but a run of four consecutive wins – all with clean sheets – has seen them clinch their first title since the invincibles of 2003/04.

Whilst the Gunners now have nothing to play for on Sunday, they have the small matter of playing reigning champions PSG in the Champions League final in Budapest next Saturday.

Palace also have a European final to prepare for once they get Sunday’s fixture out the way, as they take on Rayo Vallecano in the Conference League final on Wednesday night in Leipzig.

Oliver Glasner’s men are currently in the midst of a six-game winless run in the Premier League, as they conceded late on last weekend to draw 2-2 away at European-hopefuls Brentford.

How the bookies view it: Arsenal favourites

The newly-crowned champions are favourites to record a fifth successive win in the Premier League on Sunday, with bet365 pricing an away success at 3/4.

Crystal Palace are 16/5 to put a halt to their six-game winless run in the Premier League on Sunday, whilst the draw is 3/1.

Head to head: Gunners dominance

This is a fixture Arsenal have dominated in recent seasons, with the Gunners winning six of their last seven Premier League meetings with the Seagulls (W6-D1-L0), winning on their last three visits to Selhurst Park.

Players to watch: Eze to haunt his old club?

Eberechi Eze has made a decent impact since swapping South London for North in the summer, as he has scored 10 goals and provided three assists for the Gunners this season.

One of those goals includes the only goal in the reverse fixture at the Emirates back in October, and the former Eagles star is 6/5 at PaddyPower to Score or Assist on his first return as an opposing player to Selhurst Park.

Predicted line-ups:

Crystal Palace will be missing the injured Chris Richards, Cheick Doucoure and Eddie Nketiah, whilst Maxence Lacroix and Chadi Riad are doubts.

Mikel Arteta will still be without the injured Jurrien Timber, but Mikel Merino appears to be available again.

Crystal Palace: Henderson, Canvot, Lacroix, Riad, Munoz, Wharton, Kamada, Mitchell, Pino, Sarr, Strand Larsen

Arsenal: Raya, Mosquera, Saliba, Gabriel, Hincapie, Rice, Odegaard, Eze, Madueke, Martinelli, Jesus

Anything else catch the eye?

With the league title already sewn up for the Gunners, this is effectively a dead rubber for both, with the pair focusing on their upcoming European finals, so it’s hard to know what to expect in South London on Sunday.

The two do come into this clash in contrasting form, with Arsenal winning each of their last four – keeping clean sheets in all four – and are backable at 4/5 at William Hill to secure all three points against a Palace side winless in each of their last six Premier League fixtures.

As alluded to, the Gunners won six and drew one of their last seven meetings with Crystal Palace, winning on each of their last three trips to Selhurst Park, which only adds to the appeal.
