Celtic vs Dundee

, KO: 19:45 , Celtic Park
Dundee

Martin O'Neill's farewell tour has added another date and the legendary Celtic boss will be looking to sign off in style when Dundee come to Parkhead in the SPFL Premiership.

Sunday's clash with Hibernian was supposed to be O'Neill's last hurrah as interim manager but a delay in appointing Wilfried Nancy will see him back in the dugout for this game.

I didn't fancy Celtic's chances of winning at Easter Road off the back of a tough Thursday night game against Rotterdam but they ground out a 2-1 win, which capped an excellent weekend for the Hoops, with title rivals Hearts and Rangers both dropping two points.

Leaders Hearts head to Celtic Park next weekend and if O'Neill's men avoid a slip-up against Dundee then they can return to the summit if they beat the Jambos.

But the Dark Blues claimed a shock 2-0 win over the champions at Dens Park earlier in the season and head to Glasgow on a high after an excellent 3-1 home win over St Mirren on Saturday.

That has lifted them up to ninth and Steven Pressley will now be dreaming of doing the double over the Hoops and ruining O'Neill's farewell party.

How the bookies view it: Dundee written off at 25/1

Celtic's form has been excellent since O'Neill's return, with six wins out of seven, so it's no surprise to see them as 1/10 hot favourites with most firms. Dundee are as big as 25/1 with BetMGM and the draw is also pretty hefty at 11/1 with Ladbrokes.

Recent head to head: Hoops out for revenge

Dundee memorably beat the Hoops 2-0 at Dens earlier this season but they had gone 24 years without a win in this fixture before that. The Dark Blues have lost on their last seven visits to Celtic Park, including a 6-0 thrashing last season.

Players to watch: Hatate back in business

Reo Hatate was in terrible form at the start of the season but has been given a new lease of life since O'Neill's return. The Japanese midfielder has a goal and two assists from his last two matches and is 7/4 for another strike at BetMGM. An assist offers more value at 2/1 with Bet365.

Joe Westley was superb for Dundee when they beat Celtic at Dens and grabbed a goal in the weekend win over St Mirren. The midfielder is 5/1 to haunt the Hoops with a goal at Parkhead.

Probable line-ups

Celtic looked a little leggy in the second half at Easter Road so O'Neill will probably make a few tweaks to his line-up. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alistair Johnston, James Forrest and Jota remain out.

Pressley will be tempted to stick with a winning side and the Dundee boss has a full squad to pick from.

Celtic: Schmeichel, Donovan, Trusty, Carter-Vickers, Tierney, McGregor, Engels, Hatate, Nygren, Yang, Maeda.

Dundee: McCracken, C Robertson, Astley, Wright, Graham, Yogane, Westley, Congreve, Dhanda, Hamilton, Murray.

Anything else catch the eye?

Celtic have averaged just three corners across their last three games but they were all tough fixtures on the road. They've been averaging close to nine in their home matches so that's a market worth looking at.

Over 8.5 Celtic flag kicks pays evens at Betfred while Celtic -6 in the corner handicap looks decent at 11/10 with Bet365.

Dundee have collected just one card across their last three games, including a clash with Rangers at Dens. So it could pay to be against a busy day for the ref once the bookies price up a card market.

Celtic offer a threat from set-pieces with Arne Engels firing in some superb deliveries. For a long-odds punt, it could be worth backing a Hoops defender to score a header, with Liam Scales 8/1 with Bet365 and Auston Trusty a bit bigger at 10/1.
