Hibernian vs Celtic

, KO: 12:00 , Easter Road
Celtic

Martin O'Neill will be desperate to end his stint as interim Celtic boss on a high but it won't be easy away to Hibernian in the SPFL Premiership.

The veteran has done a great job of steading the ship domestically after Brendan Rodgers' departure, with O'Neill winning every game so far against Falkirk, Rangers, Kilmarnock and St Mirren.

Thursday's impressive 3-1 win over Feyenoord, which saw two bets land for me, also kept the Hoops alive in the Europa League, giving incoming boss Wilfried Nancy plenty to work with.

Thursday's clash with the Dutch side in Rotterdam will have taken a toll, though, so O'Neill has a big job on his hands lifting tired bodies and minds for this midday kick-off.

The Hoops lost on their visit to Easter Road and David Gray's men also held them to a 0-0 draw in the first meeting this term at Celtic Park.

Hibs have the players to ask questions of an injury-hit Hoops defence, although they head into this game on a downer after losing 2-0 away to Motherwell on Tuesday night.

Gray's side had lost just one in six before that trip to Fir Park so the Hibernian boss will be looking to get back on track when the champions come calling.

How the bookies view it: Hibees overpriced at 10/3

Celtic beat St Mirren away from home last weekend but Callum McGregor's stoppage-time winner was ill-deserved after a dreadful display. So the 10/3 on offer for a Hibs win at Bet365 looks good value here, while the draw pays 3/1 at 888Sport.

The Hoops are 3/4 with most firms but that doesn't seem justified due to the short turnaround from their European exertions.

Recent head to head: Easter Road to hell for Hoops

These sides faced off six times last season in league and cup, with Celtic claiming five victories. But Hibs won 2-0 when they last hosted the Hoops and Easter Road hasn't been a happy hunting ground for the Parkhead club of late. On their last 18 visits, Celtic have claimed just seven victories.

Players to watch: Coming to the Boyle

Martin Boyle's pace could unsettle Celtic's defence and the Australia international is a big-game player. He's as big as 4/1 with BetVictor for anytime scorer which looks a little overpriced.

Daizen Maeda has been a shadow of the player who terrorised defences last term but the Japanese forward still looks like Celtic's best bet for a goal. He's 21/10 at Coral to score, which could offer some value if O'Neill plays him down the middle instead of on the right flank again.

Probable line-ups

Hibs will be without Scotland stopper Grant Hanley after he was sent off at Motherwell while midfielder Josh Campbell is a doubt.

Celtic still have a lenghty injury list with Cameron Carter-Vickers, Alistair Johnston, Jota, James Forrest and Callum Osmand sidelined. But Marcelo Saracchi and Kelechi Iheanacho are back in contention.

Hibernian: Sallinger, O'Hora, Bushiri, Iredale, C Cadden, N Cadden, Mulligan, Barlaser, McGrath, Bowie, Boyle.

Celtic: Schmeichel, Ralston, Trusty, Scales, Tierney, McGregor, Hatate, Engels, Nygren, Tounetki, Maeda.

Anything else catch the eye?

Celtic's record at Easter Road is poor and they will be tired after Thursday's trip to Rotterdam so Hibs look well worth a punt in the double chance at 21/20 with BOYLE Sports.

Gray will look for his side to start at a high tempo in a bid to unsettle the Hoops and fire up the crowd. So there could also be some value in backing the Hibees to score in the first half at 5/4. I also fancy over five first-half corners, which pays 21/20 with the same firm.

Hoops captain McGregor has scored some superb long-range strikes for Celtic in the last couple of seasons and Ladbrokes offer a tempting 11/10 on the midfielder having a shot on target here.
