The Seagulls ended a six-game winless streak in the top-flight with an impressive 2-0 victory away at Brentford last weekend.

That triumph lifted Fabian Hurzeler's side to 14th in the Premier League table and has blunted talk of Brighton being dragged into the relegation battle, as they now hold a nine-point cushion over West Ham.

Looking to build on last week’s success and continue their climb up the standings, Brighton return to their south coast base to host relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Vitor Pereira made his Premier League debut as Nottingham Forest head coach last weekend, seeing his side put in a spirited display despite a late 1-0 home defeat to Liverpool.

The Tricky Trees have since secured a spot in the last 16 of the Europa League, although they fell 2-1 at home to Fenerbahce in the second leg of their playoff tie on Thursday night.

How the bookies view it: Seagulls set for another success

The bookies' odds suggest Brighton will follow up on their victory last weekend by seeing off Nottingham Forest on Sunday, with a home win priced up at 21/20 with William Hill.

An all-square affair at the Amex on Sunday can be backed at 13/5 on bet365, while a Nottingham Forest victory is trading at 5/2 with the same firm.

Head to head: History favours the hosts

Across their previous 26 encounters, Brighton hold the advantage with 10 wins to Forest’s seven, while the other nine contests finished level.

Brighton could also draw confidence from the fact that they ran out 2-0 winners in this season's reverse fixture. The same scoreline on Sunday has been chalked up at 10/1 on bet365.

Players to watch: Danny to deliver?

After scoring his ninth Premier League goal of the season last weekend, Danny Welbeck looks decent value to find the net again this weekend at 13/8 with PaddyPower.

Morgan Gibbs-White has recorded at least one shot on target in seven of his last 11 Premier League appearances, making him an appealing option to repeat the trick against Brighton on Sunday at 4/5 with bet365.

Predicted line-ups

Brighton remain without long-term absentees Adam Webster and Stefanos Tzimas, while Solly March and Yasin Ayari will be assessed ahead of kick-off.

Nottingham Forest, meanwhile, are still unable to call upon injured quintet Chris Wood, John Victor, Matz Sels, Nicolo Savona and Willy Boly.

Brighton: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Van Hecke, Dunk, Kadioglu; Hinshelwood, Baleba, Gross; Gomez, Welbeck, Mitoma

Nottingham Forest: Ortega; Aina, Milenkovic, Murillo, Williams; Sangare, Anderson; Hutchinson, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Jesus

MFT's X-pert tip: Limited goal action

Under 2.5 goals stands out for Brighton vs Nottingham Forest based on recent output and chance quality.

Across the last eight matches Brighton average 0.91 xG and 1.49 xGA, with an xG ratio of 0.38. Forest post 1.11 xG and 1.56 xGA in the same period, with a ratio of 0.42. Neither side is generating sustained attacking supremacy and both are operating below 1.20 xG per game.

Shot data reinforces the angle. Brighton average 6.5 shots inside the box across the last eight, Forest 6.3, while both concede close to eight. Big chance production is modest, with Brighton creating five and Forest five in that stretch.

The recent home and away splits also point toward controlled totals. Brighton’s last four home games produced a total xG of 4.75, while Forest’s last four away games also returned 4.75 total xG.

With limited attacking efficiency and balanced defensive concession, under 2.5 goals aligns with the underlying profile.

Anything else catch the eye?

Backing both teams to score alongside both teams to receive a card will bring about an eye-catching 21/20 Bet Builder on bet365.

This combination has clicked in five of the Seagulls' last eight top-flight fixtures at home.

With four of Brighton’s last six league games ending level – three of them finishing 1-1 – the same scoreline on Sunday could warrant a speculative punt at 13/2 with bet365.
