Brentford vs Liverpool

, KO: 12:30 Feb 17, 2024, Brentford Community Stadium
Liverpool

LIVERPOOL remain top of the table, but will be well aware they have champions Manchester City breathing down their necks.

And with City also having a game in hand and trailing by just two points, they daren't slip up on their Saturday lunchtime trip to Brentford.

Liverpool are unbeaten in 33 of their last 35 league games, but they had a recent setback at Arsenal and didn't look entirely convincing when Burnley drew level at Anfield before the hosts scored two goals after the break to win it.

And they now travel to the capital to face a Bees side who had a fantastic result in their last game when they went to in-form Wolves and shocked them with a 2-0 win at Molineux.

It was only their second league win since the start of December and they were starting to become in danger of being dragged into a relegation battle had they not won last week.

As it is, they have a six point cushion on Everton with a game in hand and have a habit of collecting points when the heat is on.

But they have only won four home league games this season and two of them were against Burnley and Luton Town.

How the bookies view it

Liverpool will be the starters in many punters' accas on Saturday at 4/7 with Paddy Power.

Brentford can be backed at 9/2 with bet365 and the draw is 7/2 with William Hill.

Recent head to heads

Liverpool made light work of Brentford when the teams met in November at Anfield.

However, last season the Bees handed Liverpool a bloody nose with a 3-1 at home.

Players to watch

Ivan Toney has not disappointed since his return after his huge ban. He has now scored three goals in the four games he has played and is 21/10 to score anytime with Paddy Power.

Mo Salah is back in full training, but may not be risked as a starter. The attacking trio of Diogo Jota Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez all netted last week. Nunez can be backed at 13/10 with Betfred.

Anything else catch the eye?

Not many teams go to Brentford and boss them – Manchester City won 3-1 in their recent visit and it could be that Liverpool win and concede too. An away win and both teams to score is worth backing at 9/5 with Boylesports. Liverpool have failed to keep a clean sheet in six of their last seven games.

There's usually plenty of goals when Brentford are involved – they went three games in a row where the scoreline was 3-2 and then were involved in a 3-1 game against Manchester City.

Go for over 3.5 goals at 13/10 with UniBet with Liverpool conceding three goals on both of their last visits to the Community Stadium.
