ARSENAL will be bidding to make it eight Premier League wins on the bounce when they welcome London rivals Brentford to the Emirates on Saturday evening.
Mikel Arteta’s men have been building some serious momentum since returning from their winter break in their pursuit of a first top-flight crown since 2004.
Last time out, the Gunners kept their title push firmly on track by shredding rock-bottom Sheffield United 6-0 at Bramall Lane.
Back at their North London headquarters this weekend, Arsenal could move to the top of the table – at least temporarily – if they can table an eighth league win on the trot against Brentford.
To date, Thomas Frank’s team have failed to reach the heights of previous seasons, with the Bees currently housed in 15th place, just six points above the drop zone.
That being said, Brentford did snap their three-game losing run by holding West London rivals Chelsea to a 2-2 draw last weekend.
Outright Betting
Arsenal are heavy 1/4 favourites on Bet 365 to extend their winning run to eight matches.
Brentford have already lost to Arsenal twice this season and they are unsurprisingly expected to suffer the same fate here, with an away win trading at 12/1 (Betfred) while the draw is also deemed unlikely at 6/1 (William Hill).
Betting Angles
Arsenal are unbackable at a general 1/4 but combining a home win alongside Sergio Reguilón to commit at least one foul will bring about an attractive 5/6 (PaddyPower) shot.
As already alluded to, Arsenal have looked unstoppable since the turn of the year and they should be able to seize the initiative at the Premier League summit by beating out-of-sorts Brentford.
Not only have Mikel Arteta’s men claimed top honours from each of their seven last top-flight assignments, but they have also banged in a whopping 31 goals for good measure.
That doesn’t bode well for a Brentford side that have posted just four clean sheets across their 27 Premier League outings this season so far, shipping multiple strikes in a sizeable 16 of those occasions.
As such, I’ll back the Gunners to get the job done on Saturday evening, but to bolster the odds, I’ll also go with a minimum of one Sergio Reguilón foul.
The Spanish left wing-back has committed seven fouls across his six starts since joining the Bees in January and he will likely have one of the toughest jobs on the pitch on Saturday evening given that have he will be up against Bukayo Saka
With that in mind, I’m also prepared to back Reguilón to be reprimanded twice or more by referee Rob Jones at an eye-catching 7/4 on PaddyPower.
This bet would have paid in each of the Spaniards' last two outings for Brentford and I see no reason to oppose a repeat here against a rampant Arsenal side that are playing at the peak of their powers right now.
