AC Milan are looking to maintain the pressure on the frontrunners as they host Napoli in a Serie A fixture on Sunday. Milan have been in good form lately, especially at San Siro and should have too much for the champions, who are still struggling to find their best form.
AC Milan are coming off a 3-2 victory at Udinese in their previous Serie A fixture. They took an early lead through Olivier Giroud but fell behind just after ten break before late efforts from Matteo Gabbia and Luka Jovic earned them the win.
That result extends AC Milan’s recent good form as they have lost just once in their last 12 Serie A matches. Stefano Pioli’s men have picked up eight wins in that run and are now eight points behind leaders and local rivals Inter Milan on the table.
The San Siro is where AC Milan often do their best work as they head into Sunday’s clash with five wins and a draw in their last six Serie A home matches. However they tend to be unconvincing at the back, conceding three goals in the last two fixtures in that run.
It has been a difficult campaign for Napoli, whose title defence has slowly frittered away. The champions are unlikely to retain their title as they sit 22 points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan.
Napoli travel to San Siro off the back of a 2-1 victory over Verona last time out in Serie A with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia netting the winner three minutes from time. That was a vital win as it ended a two match winless run for Partenopei.
One of the major problems for Napoli is a poor record on their travels as they are winless in their last five away matches across all competitions. Walter Mazzarri’s men have also failed to score in the last four fixtures in that run and remain without striker Victor Osimhen for Sunday’s match.

AC Milan have a 16-15 advantage with 19 draws from 50 previous matches against Napoli. Both teams battled to a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture back in December, although the Rossoneri earned a 1-0 victory in the last meeting at San Siro.
Players to watch
As always, Olivier Giroud will be the one to watch for AC Milan with his effort at Frosinone last time out taking his tally to 11 Serie A goals. The French striker netted a brace in the reverse fixture and is priced at 8/5 by Paddy Power to maintain his scoring run.
Napoli will be looking to capitalise on AC Milan’s defensive vulnerability and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia will be the one to watch in the absence of Victor Osimhen. He often carries the attacking threat for the Naples club and is priced at 10/3 by bet365 to get in the score sheet.
