Although the season only feels like it started yesterday, we are now one-third into the 2024/25 season and all top leagues across Europe are taking shape.
Title races are being formed while certain clubs are already beginning to worry about their relegation odds. On the individual front, the usual suspects are battling it out for their respective Golden Boots but things can and will change very quickly over December when games come thick and fast.
Below, we've picked out four football betting market movers to keep an eye on in the coming weeks as we approach the festive period.
Market movers: Our Premier League picks
Spurs to use Man City win as a springboard
Tottenham produced their best performance of the Ange Postecoglou era last weekend, defeating Man City 4-0 at the Etihad Stadium. While it's not the first time that Spurs have beaten City in recent years, the manner of the win will surely spark a positive run of form for the club.
At present, Tottenham are priced at 13/10 to make it into the top four but these odds are likely to tumble in the coming weeks based on their fixture list. Three of their next four matches are against teams placed 10th or lower which they should take advantage of while the other match is against Chelsea, who currently occupy one of the top four spots.
Will the pressure get to Liverpool?
Liverpool are currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table but it already feels as if they are pushing their luck. Last weekend, they trailed 2-1 to Southampton before turning the game around and that wasn't the first time they've been forced to do that.
At present, they are priced at 4/6 to pick up 85 PL points or more but these are odds are likely to lengthen in the coming weeks. Their current level of performance won't be enough to pick up three wins from their next three games (Man City, Newcastle and Everton) and a couple of losses in those games would drop their expected points tally below the 85-point mark.
Other predicted football betting market movers
Title odds to lengthen: Bayern Munich and Inter Milan
Bayern Munich are on top of the Bundesliga at present and have a six-point lead over their nearest challengers. However, they have struggled in big matches this season and they have a few of those coming up with a trip to Dortmund and a match against RB Leipzig all occurring before the winter break.
Inter Milan are still the favourites to win Serie A despite being third in the table. Their fixtures are very difficult in the coming weeks, with trips to Fiorentina and Lazio on the horizon, and their odds of retaining their title will lengthen should they drop points in both.
Title odds to shorten: Barcelona and Napoli
Barcelona looked as if they were going to run away with La Liga after they dismantled Real Madrid at the Bernabeu but they have since dropped points in two matches. Barca's fixtures are straightforward in December, though, while Real Madrid have some tricky away trips which could see Flick's men become clear favourites once again.
Napoli are still going strong under Antonio Conte and their upcoming fixtures provide them with a brilliant chance to extend their lead at the top of Serie A. They only play one opponent inside the top eight in their next five matches and that's a home clash against Lazio.
Relegation odds to change: Hearts
Hearts are currently in 11th position in the Scottish Premiership but their fortunes could be about to change which should see their relegation odds lengthen. They now don't face either old firm club until the middle of February which should give them ample time to climb their way out of the hole they find themselves in.
Your on about Liverpool’s performance against Southampton, yet Newcastle lost 2-0 and City lost 0-4 both home games. Liverpool were away after an Iinternatuonal break. Spurs won 0-4 and now they are world beaters ffs.
