Non-League Betting Tips: Get to Roots Hall for goals as Tamworth come to visit

The National League schedule continues across Tuesday and Wednesday, with three fixtures offering different routes into the midweek card.

Southend United host Tamworth after both sides maintained their high-scoring starts at the weekend. Southend earned a point in a four-goal contest at Carlisle United, while Tamworth suffered another open defeat at Harrogate Town. Their 14 combined league matches have produced 56 goals.

Wednesday’s fixtures bring contrasting profiles. Unbeaten Boreham Wood travel to Scunthorpe United with one of the division’s strongest underlying records. The visitors rank second for xGD and have taken 10 points from four away matches, although Scunthorpe enter after winning at Sutton United.

Sutton remain at home to face Eastleigh after producing only four shots in Saturday’s defeat. Their recent attacking decline is matched against an Eastleigh side averaging fewer than three shots on target per game.

Southend United v Tamworth

Scunthorpe United v Boreham Wood

Boreham Wood take their unbeaten record to Glanford Park on Wednesday night after collecting 17 points from seven matches. Scunthorpe United also enter with renewed confidence following a 2-0 win at Sutton United, but the wider performance data gives the visitors a clear advantage.

Boreham Wood have won five and drawn two, including three victories and one draw away from home. Their 2.43 goals per game is the second-highest average in the division, while they have scored in every fixture.

Their underlying record carries more weight than the league table alone. Boreham Wood rank second for xGD at +0.69, producing 1.72 xG while allowing only 1.03 xGA. They also average 14.7 shots and concede 8.6, one of the strongest shot differences in the league.

Scunthorpe’s numbers are less convincing. They sit at -0.10 xGD, average 1.49 xG and allow 1.59 xGA. Their seven matches have returned two wins, one draw and four defeats, with 12 goals conceded.

Saturday’s victory at Sutton deserves respect, although it did not signal complete control. Scunthorpe won from seven shots and four on target against a Sutton side whose attacking problems were already clear. Boreham Wood drew 1-1 at Eastleigh after recording 11 shots, extending their unbeaten start despite finishing below their usual attacking level.

Boreham Wood’s scoring exceeds xG by 0.71 goals per game, creating some regression risk. Their defensive process, shot advantage and away results still support them to win at 3/4.

Sutton United v Eastleigh

Sutton United remain at Gander Green Lane after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat against Scunthorpe United, with Eastleigh arriving after a 1-1 draw against Boreham Wood. Neither side has generated enough attacking volume to make a high-scoring contest the preferred outcome.

Sutton have scored seven goals in seven matches, but six came across their opening three fixtures. They have managed one goal during their last four, failing to score against Worthing, Barrow and Scunthorpe.

The latest defeat exposed the same problem. Sutton produced four shots and placed two on target. Those figures sit below already modest season averages of 7.3 shots and three shots on target. Their 1.14 xG is the second-lowest figure in the division.

Eastleigh also operate near the bottom of the attacking rankings. They average 1.18 xG, 8.6 shots and 2.7 shots on target. Saturday’s draw with Boreham Wood brought eight attempts and two on target, while three consecutive Eastleigh matches have finished with exactly two goals.
