Bet 2 – Morocco vs Gabon – Friday 25th September at 8pm
Morocco begin their AFCON qualifying campaign at home to Gabon on Friday night, with the Atlas Lions expected to take control of Group A from the opening round.
The hosts are 7/50 to win, a price reflecting the gap between the sides. Morocco are rated 1901 compared with Gabon's ELO ranking of 1402, while their recent results also support their position as strong favourites.
Morocco won all eight matches during World Cup qualifying, scoring 22 goals and conceding only two. They kept six clean sheets and recorded five victories by at least two goals. That defensive record gives Gabon little margin for error.
The Atlas Lions then carried their form into the World Cup, where they reached the quarter-finals. They won three of their six matches and scored 10 goals despite facing Brazil, Scotland, the Netherlands, Canada and France.
Home advantage adds further weight to the selection. Morocco have remained unbeaten on home soil in regulation time since losing 3-1 to Burkina Faso in July 2025. That run includes their AFCON campaign at the same stadium.
Gabon enjoyed a positive World Cup qualifying campaign but have since lost five of their last six matches. They also exited AFCON after three group-stage defeats and now begin life without retired forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Recent meetings underline Morocco's advantage. They beat Gabon 4-1 and 5-1 during the previous AFCON qualifying campaign.
Gabon have enough quality to remain competitive, but Morocco's home record, defensive strength and greater squad depth make the home win the clear selection.
