Welcome back to MFT’s 10-1,000 betting challenge, where we aim for a 100x return on the original investment via a small stake betting strategy, prioritising low risk and low odds en route to a long-term target.
While this column is dedicated to high-probability tips, there is no guarantee of profit. If playing along, you should consider your own budget and confidence in the tip provided, and make your own decision whether to follow, cash out or continue at every stage. 18+, please gamble responsibly.
We will use a unit system for our stakes, allowing readers to set their own unit value that suits their own budget. For the sake of simplicity, for us, 1 unit = £1.
We will continue to transparently track our progress as far as we go on the path to 1,000, but will refresh our main tracking stake back to the starting point every time we surpass 100 units – a 10x ROI.
For the sake of consistency, all tips are placed using odds from bet365. It worth pointing out that with Bet365 we can paid out if our selection goes into a lead by two or more goals.
Got to love a last minute goals. Elfsborg scored in the 90th minute to win our 14th bet. Back onto Monday night football for goals and cards.
Bet 15 – Fulham vs Chelsea – Monday 24th at 8pm
Over 0.5 match goals and over 2.5 match cards is a low-risk combination at 1.22, implying an 82% chance.
The goals leg landed in all 19 of Fulham's home matches last season and 18 of Chelsea's 19 away fixtures, producing hit rates of 100% and 95%. Both teams also failed to score in only 16% of their relevant home and away games, making a goalless draw a clear outlier.
The clean-sheet figures support the same conclusion. Fulham kept clean sheets in only 32% of their home matches, while Chelsea managed one in 21% of their away games. Even over 1.5 goals landed in 63% of Fulham's home fixtures and 89% of Chelsea's matches on the road.
Their underlying numbers also point towards goals. Fulham averaged 1.24 xG and conceded 1.42 xGA at home, while Chelsea produced 1.44 xG and allowed 1.48 xGA away.
The cards leg carries more risk, although the relevant averages remain comfortably above the required line. Fulham's home games produced 4.47 cards per match, with Fulham receiving 2.47 themselves. Chelsea's away fixtures averaged 5.42 cards, while the Blues were shown 2.21 per game.
Those figures show both teams contributed regularly to the totals rather than relying on opponents to collect the bookings.
John Brooks get the whistle for this fixture. Brooks averaged 4.00 cards across 12 Premier League matches last season, showing at least three in 10 of them, an 83.3% hit rate against the line required here.
This is a selection built around reliability rather than a major pricing edge, with the goals leg providing the stronger foundation and Brooks' record adding support to the cards side.
