Mark Walker's Scottish Tips

St Mirren's famous League Cup win last month has masked what has been something of a disappointing league campaign.

And if they have any chance of making it four top six finishes in a row, they need to start putting some wins on the board and Falkirk at home at 11/10 with McBookie.com  looks like the ideal opportunity.

Stephen Robinson's side were rightly lauded for an outstanding achievement in winning the trophy. They didn't just beat Celtic in the final, they hammered in-form Motherwell in the semi final and put Premiership leaders Hearts out in an earlier round for good measure.

Of course, Celtic have now welcomed back Martin O'Neill for a third time and he makes his big return against Dundee United and you can read our preview here

But for whatever reason, they have never quite got going in the league and lie in an underachieving 10th spot.

They are nine points off a top six spot which Falkirk currently occupy and this really is a must-win game for the Buddies.

They are usually far better at home and they have beaten Dundee United and Livingston and drawn with Kilmarnock in their last four three games.

As well as Falkirk have done on their return to the top flight, St Mirren have a stronger squad and are decent at home and look a solid shout.

Stenhousemuir vs East Fife prediction

Stenhousemuir boast a sensational record at their Ochilview fortress and can chalk up another win there against East Fife at McBookie.com's 13/12.

Gary Naysmith's side have an outstanding home record this season – their last defeat there was in August and they have won four of their last five games at home in all competitions.

They were too good for a Queen of the South side who had been in fine form last week and had lost just twice in the league since September.

They face East Fife, who have suffered two disappointing home defeats in a row to Peterhead and struggling rivals Kelty Hearts last week.

Stenny are again making waves in League One and can get the job done against Dick Campbell's men.

Forfar Athletic vs Stranraer prediction

Stranraer have lost just once in 15 games in all competitions and look a nice price at 8/5 with McBookie.com to see off Forfar Athletic at Station Park.

Too many draws have cost the Stair Park outfit, but they are on the up and look to be gunning for a strong second half of the season.

Forfar are no mugs, but have won just once in their last seven games and Chris Aitken's side can get closer to the League Two leaders.
