Wednesday’s Racing Tips – A solid chase debut sets it up nicely for Cornish Comedy to get his head in front

I asked Cairnzy quite late to cover for Tuesday's racing, and he kindly obliged.

His sole runner, Ski Lodge, bumped into Paddy O'Mahler. Paddy has been a previous tip of mine on this page when not winning, but then managed to win the time after.

Ski Lodge jumped well, but lacked fluency in the latter stages of the race, resulting in his gas tank emptying when he needed to rally.

I'd be happy enough to follow Ski Lodge, as he is a consistent horse and will likely find a weak enough race to get his head in front. The Alan King stable hasn't been in great winning form of late, so when they are firing in winners might be the best time to catch this horse.

Cornish Comedy 4/1 (1pt) – Warwick 1.52

There is an inspection in the early morning at Warwick, which must be for a potential frozen track, as the weather looks clear.

If the meeting goes ahead, Cornish Comedy looks a solid bet at the bottom of the weights on his second chase start.

Robbie Llewellyn's lightly raced chaser ran well on chasing debut, even though he finished six lengths behind the winner.

I had a selection in the Hereford race from last time out, but my runner refused to race at the start. Which meant I had to sit back and watch the race as a spectator with nothing on the line. As a result, I thought that Cornish Comedy shaped well, considering he wasn't particularly fancied in the market.

He was in contention for the win, but he made a shuddering mistake towards the end, and that gave him little chance of winning. Overall, he jumped well, and with that experience under his belt, he must be going close in a similar level race.

It would be my luck that Koenigsstern, who was tipped up last time out, will go on to win. In all fairness, that horse has had a lot of chances to get more wins, and he just bumps into unexposed horses like Cornish Comedy.

There are other horses in contention for this race, especially those with unexposed profiles like the top weight and Pescatorious, but I felt like my selection was the best handicapped.
