To walk away with just one winner on Monday definitely feels unjustified.

Jax Junior managed to defeat the short-priced favourite, despite being miles behind on ratings.

I think in time, Jeriko Du Reponet will be much better. He jumped a few like an inexperienced horse, was keen and looked in need of the run.

Kamsinas was given a patient ride by Jonny Burke. I thought they weren't going to be trying, and use it as an opener over fences. But he slowly brought him into contention, and if it wasn't for smashing through the final three fences, he would have won.

Della Cassa Lunga might have found the ground turn against her at the wrong time. She doesn't like soft ground, and Kempton got some rain during the day. Nevertheless, she ran okay and ran on at the finish. She'll be aimed at the handicap over the Christmas period, which she won last year.

The Pit Popsy 10/1 (1pt) – Hereford 1.25

After I tipped up Electric Eddy on his seasonal return, I was tempted to back him on his chase debut. He was smashed in the betting last time out. When the money is down, and the gamble doesn't pay off, it can be beneficial to stick with the same horse.

However, I don't think he is particularly well-handicapped, as he has had 7lb claimers on board for the best performances, and now STD is back in the saddle.

Heather Main's runner, The Pit Popsy, stood out like a potential big improver over fences.

If he is ready first time out on his chasing debut, he could be well-handicapped off an opening handicap mark of 88 on handicap debut.

Heather Main is known for being a flat trainer, but she can definitely train a chaser. This horse is related to Numitor, who is an eight-time winner over fences for Heather Main.

Concetto 5/1 (1pt) – Hereford 2.35

I wouldn't say that Concetto is on a very good handicap mark, but seeing Harry Cobden in the saddle suggests a big run is on the way.

Whenever the smaller yards manage to secure the rides of the top jockeys like Cobden, it makes their horses worth a second look.

Over the years, I've backed Concetto on a couple of occasions, mainly his runs over fences at the start of his chasing career.

He gets on very well on good ground, and given the fact that he was under front-running tactics last time out, having Cobden in the saddle could suggest a repeat performance is likely. Harry is one of the best at judging pace on the front end, so it's a very positive sign.

Copshill Lad won at this track last time out on chasing debut. He is still unexposed and took advantage of a late blunder by Gris Majeur to win. The handicapper has given him every opportunity to follow up his win, as he has only put him up by 2lbs.
