Racing Tips – Back Sound Reason At Beverley

Monday was unfortunately a losing day with both selections running below par.

Something must have gone wrong with Lightfoot Lady, she was traveling beautifully throughout the race and once she jumped the third last, she came off the bridle and was pulled up. I haven't read or heard anything from connections but something didn't look right with the horse.

The money came for Federal Envoy overnight as he halved in price. He ran a stinker and probably isn't as good as I thought he could be. It's still early days, but on that performance, I wouldn't be backing him next time. I'm not a huge fan of Danny Tudhope either, he can look half-arsed at times on a horse when he knows he is beaten, which is one of my pet hates.

I've only one selection for Tuesday. The racing on Tuesday isn't that great and I'm concentrating more on the racing from York on Wednesday.

Sound Reason 3/1 – Beverley 15:45

The horse that stood out the most to me on Tuesday was Sound Reason, originally trained by Kevin Ryan but recently switched hands last month to David O'Meara.

My selection has continued to plummet down the handicap and is now on a competitive mark that should see him winning again sooner rather than later. Sound Reason was a winner from a 4lb higher mark over this same course and distance last summer. He made a respectable debut for his new yard when finishing fourth, four and a quarter lengths of the winner. He should strip fitter for this contest having had a recent run under the belt.

Tomorrow's forecast ground at Beverley is currently good and should stay that way according to Google, I'll believe it when I see it! Most of Sound Reasons form had come on good to firm ground so a return to this surface should hopefully aid his chances of getting a first win on the board for his new yard.
